Unfortunately you won’t find me at a baseball game today. Fear not, as Wrigley Field — and really Wrigleyville in general — is one of my favorite places to visit I know I’ll be back there soon.

On today’s agenda:

Thoughts on Marcell Ozuna
Small sample size issues aside, Marcell Ozuna has been crushing the ball to open the season. Yesterday he cracked his second home run and is now sitting on an impressive .333/385/.556 line through 10 games. His .385 BABIP won’t stick forever, but if he can continue to flash the power we saw from him in the lower minors then Ozuna becomes a real fantasy asset. The three seasons spanning 2010-2012 Ozuna hit 69 home runs across Low-A, A-Ball and High-A. He was thrown to wolves a bit last year, accruing nearly 300 major league plate appearances despite not reaching the 50 PA mark in Double-A. He is still a bit raw — particularly in the walk and strikeout deparments — however his power shouldn’t be underestimated. If you need a boost in the power numbers, consider Ozuna. He is free to grab in 90% of ESPN and Yahoo! leagues as well as 70% of CBS formats.

Avisail Garcia done for the season
Some were hoping for a 20-10 season from Garcia this year, but any breakout seasons will have to wait until 2015. Garcia dove for a ball in Wednesday’s night game and felt a crack as he hit the ground. An MRI yesterday confirmed the worst and Garcia is set to have surgery to repair his torn left labrum.

The Chicago White Sox announced that Dayan Viciedo will get the majority of the playing time in Garcia’s absence. Viciedo has some pop but you’ll need to compensate for his poor rate stats. In over 1200 major league PA’s Viceido sports a .308 OBP, though his .265 batting average is much more respectable. Jordan Danks was called up from Triple-A to provide additional outfield depth and if this was 2011, he may be more interesting. Viciedo has some upside in terms of his power and should be able to grabbed in all but the deepest of AL-only leagues and Danks should be left to the waiver wire.

Eric Young’s strong day
Three hits, three steals and four runs scored is a good day in anyone’s book. The big day boosted Young’s seasonal line all the way to .226/.286/.323! Sarcasm aside, SSS problems abound this time of year and Young is no exception. Young should be able to chip in 30+ steals and if he continues to hit leadoff he could be a decent source of runs as well. Think of Young as the NL version of Rajai Davis, minus a few points of batting average. Lots of steals, some runs and not much else. There is a limit to their respective upsides, but their legs can be difference makers. Young is available in over 90% of ESPN formats, 80% of Yahoo! leagues and 75% of CBS formats.

The Daily Five
Starting Pitcher: Rick Porcello — $6,000
A worm burner in Porcello goes to a park where even his rare fly ball allowed probably won’t hurt him in Petco.

Starting Pitcher: Brandon McCarthy — $5,900
McCarthy’s true talent is probably a lot closer to his 3.73 xFIP than his 7.82 ERA. I like him to have a solid start against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers.

Infielder: Jose Abreu — $4,400
No platoon advantage here, just Abreu facing off against Carlos Carrasco…which should be enough of an advantage for Abreu, really.

Outfielder: Rajai Davis — $3,600
Yes, I’m going against my boy in Andrew Cashner here, but I think the Tigers will be aggressive on the base paths while in Petco. Hard to imagine someone other than Davis enjoying the green light more.

Other Hitter: Jose Bautista — $5,000
With apologies to Matt Klaassen, I like Joey Bats to go yard off of Bruce Chen today. What I meant was I like him to hit a home run off of Chris Tillman.

Remaining Budget: $25,100
I tried to be fiscally conservative in my picks today and leave (just) over half of the budget for players of your choosing.
