Roto Riteup: May 6, 2022
Give me your best early season victory lap!
In honor of people complaining about early/daily victory laps, I will begin posting a thread of them. Enjoy your victories no matter how small, inconsequential, or unnecessary! pic.twitter.com/VsdHxJlXWJ

Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest
On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.
COVID Issues
Manager Rocco Baldelli, Dylan Bundy and Luis Arraez have tested positive for COVID-19. They will be forced to quarantine away from the team until they have multiple negative tests. Hopefully this isn’t the start of something worse for the Twins.
Quick Hits
Madison Bumgarner was ejected from his start on Wednesday after a weird encounter with an umpire while he was checking MadBum’s hand for illegal substances. This isn’t fantasy relevant, but it gives me the opportunity to share something I made to commemorate it:

Matt Brash was optioned to AAA on Thursday. This is not a surprise as Brash has struggled. Brash showed flashes of brilliance and he has a bright future, but he struggled with his control, allowing 17 walks and a hit by pitch in 20 innings. He should be back at some point but is expected to work out of the bullpen moving forward and is probably droppable in most redraft formats.
Tyler Beede was designated for assignment by the Giants on Thursday. This is a bit surprising, but Beede has struggled in the Giants pen this year and is out of options. He is likely to land somewhere via waivers.
Nick Castellanos left Thursday’s game with a wrist injury after being hit by a pitch. X-rays following the game were negative. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Cole Irvin was placed on the IL with a shoulder issue. The move is retroactive to May 2, but he is likely droppable in most formats.
Carlos Correa was removed from Thursday’s game with a non-displaced fracture of his middle finger. He will be hitting the IL. There is no timetable for his return. Rumors are that the Twins may call up former top prospect Royce Lewis to take his place on the roster. Lewis is a high ceiling player worth gambling on in the short term if he does get the call.
Various News and Notes
Hunter Greene threw 2.2 innings in the loss to the Brewers, allowing eight runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out seven.

This is one of the craziest outings I have seen in a while. Greene vacillated between showing his dominating stuff and leaving truly terrible pitches in the sweet spot of the zone. Greene’s arm talent is ridiculous, but it remains to be seen if he can command it consistently yet.
Hunter Greene 20.2 innings pitched and 10 homers allowed.
The Detroit Tigers have played 23 games and hit 10 home runs.

Ryan Mouncastle went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in the victory over the Twins.

Mountcastle took a 96 mph fastball the other way in an impressive at bat for his second home run. He has struggled to start the season, but in spite of lackluster underlying numbers, he has produced at every level. He may have been dropped in some leagues and with his multi positional eligibility, he could be worth picking up.
