Roto Riteup May 26, 2017
I had to double check to make sure Xander Bogaerts indeed hit his first home run of the season, but that’s exactly what happened Wednesday night against the Rangers. He’s coming off of a 21-home run season in 2016, but this year is looking a lot more like 2015 when he hit just seven with a .320 AVG. His .335 AVG is sustaining his fantasy value right now.
Dave Cameron highlights Bogaerts’ weirdness calling him the Joe Panik of the east coast. That’s not a negative comment at all.

News and Notes
–Ryan Braun is heading back to the disabled list after being “free” for four days. He’s had a recurring calf issue that keeps coming back to haunt him over the last month. He left the game against the Diamondbacks early Thursday night and we should know more once his MRI results come back.
–Dustin Pedroia left Thursday’s matchup against the Rangers with some knee soreness. According to the media at the game, he was rather stubborn about it, not even wanting to be taken out of the game. He’s been irritated with this injury since Manny Machado slid into his leg earlier this year.
–Odubel Herrera went 0-5 with five strikeouts against the Rockies. This is just adding to his rough season where we were anticipating some struggles against lefties… not struggles with everything. His OBP is down to a paltry .275 with both his strikeout rate (26%) and walk rate (6%) going the wrong way. His 43% O-Swing rate is 3rd-worst in the league. Maybe his dad needs to get his ear again re: the strikeouts.
The Price is Right… and Returning
Manager John Farrell announced David Price will be back on Monday making his 2017 major league debut against the Chicago White Sox.
His results were unimpressive in 5.7 innings at Triple-A with a 9.53 ERA and 2.47 WHIP, but he had a 25% strikeout rate and 6% walk rate, perfectly in line with expectations. Rehab starts need to be treated like Spring Training ones for the most part. Pitchers are usually working on getting their feel back and less concerned with getting outs.
Probable DFS Pitchers
Max Scherzer vs. San Diego Padres
Jacob deGrom @ Pittsburgh Pirates
Zack Godley @ Milwaukee Brewers
Jake Arrieta @ Kansas City Royals
I’m obsessed with Jessica! It’s truly pathetic!!! I woke up thinking I could just ignore a writer I don’t care for, but instead, I decided to create a handle to trash someone I don’t know. Imagine how terrible my life is!!!!
I wish people would stop chalking on this poor girl.
Nobody is forcing you to read this stuff. If you hate it so much, there’s plenty of other sites to read
Many of us have come to this site for a while now and have relied on it to be a good source of information. Many, including myself used to donate/paid membership.
Nothing wrong with the customer having expectations to be met, and making their voice heard when they are not.
The Roto Riteup used to be a staple for me, but this series like many other articles on this site have devolved to trash you would find on other off the cuff sites with little/poor insight.
What the hell are you talking about? “threw over a nine ERA” is perfectly fine language.
These are daily writeups, quick hits and news items. Stop judging them like they’re supposed to be the next Eno bombshell article.
That’s nothing but a stylistic decision. Dude – you have a user name bashing her. This isn’t even remotely the site for internet trolling and bullying. Clean it up.
Well keep white knighting every week.
This is weird. Is it different from what the comment used to be? Did FG edit these comments? Y’all have time to edit the comments but not the blog posts?
Yes it was edited and yes they removed some of my other comments. Fake news galore, folks. Nothing to see here. Just white Dave Cameron coming to the rescue before firing the poor girl. A loss for women everywhere. We could use more diversity on sites like these.
“He’s coming off of a 21 home run season in 2016 but raised his average while maintaining his contact so he hasn’t exactly been regressing.”
Pull up his page on this website… Fly Balls are way down, hard contact is poor, soft contact is way up. Not all contact is created equal.
The 21 HR last year outperformed his batted ball profile.
Those are absolutely some probable DFS pitchers, I agree.
Yeah, that could use some clarification. Especially since Arrieta is pitching against the Dodgers tonight. I’d probably label that one as “doubtful.”
With so many good baseball writers working for free I really hope pieces like this aren’t being compensated. This looks like it took 5 minutes to put together and is utterly bereft of information.
It does have misinformation, though. Arrieta is not pitching against the Royals, he is pitching against the Dodgers.
Arrieta @ LAD tho
David Price’s AAA starts look ugly, but a .5+ BABIP doesn’t help. His xFIP was only 3.45 so there’s that, at least
I’ve enjoyed the bashing of occasional poor quality work here, but I definitely enjoy the karmic reaction from the baseball Gods in response to readers bashing for minor things and this list:
Kyle Seager, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jason Kipnis, Trea Turner, Gary Sanchez, Carlos Beltran, Mitch Haniger, Eric Hosmer, Ian Kinsler, and RYAN GOINS—
the four home run club this season so far!
I feel like comparing Bogaerts to Joe Panik is a negative comment considering Bogaerts is clearly a much better player…
Somebody get this writer an editor.
I remember when this site was good…..
Y’all need to chill out
