Roto Riteup: May 13, 2024

One of my favorite moments of all time:

On the Agenda:

  1. Quick Hits
  2. Various News and Notes
  3. Streaming Pitchers

Quick Hits

Michael Conforto was placed on the IL with a hamstring strain. The Giants called the strain mild, so he will hopefully not miss too much time. Luis Matos was recalled to take Conforto’s spot on the roster.

TJ Friedl left Sunday’s game after being hit on the thumb with a pitch.

X-Ray were inconclusive. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jung Hoo Lee left Sunday’s game after this play:

Lee reportedly dislocated his shoulder and will likely hit the IL.

Austin Riley left Sunday’s game with side soreness. He stated after the game that he was hoping to be back in the lineup this week. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
David Fry went 1-for-2 with a home run in the victory over the White Sox.

Fry also walked twice in the outing as well as scored two runs and two RBI. He is hitting .309/.437/.515 with three home runs and a stolen base. He is a top 10 catcher in terms of wRC+ this season and he should be rostered in all two catcher formats.

Spencer Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a home run in the loss to the Astros on Sunday.

Torkelson has struggled this season, hitting .224/.294/.333 with just the one home run. However, he is making good contact in the zone and is just not being aggressive enough. He is hitting the ball harder over the last three weeks and appears to be finally getting on track.

Willie Calhoun went 3-for-4 with a home run in the loss to the Royals on Sunday.

Calhoun is a former top prospect that has struggled to find a long term home in part because of his defensive liabilities. He has started strong with the Angels though, hitting .333/.361/606 with that home run in 36 plate appearances. With how banged up the Angels are, Calhoun could be in for a fair amount of plate appearances and the offensive profile has neve really been in question for the 29-year-old.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Trevor Williams at CHW

Williams will regress at some point, but this is too good of a matchup to pass up.

High Risk Options: Graham Ashcraft atARI, Colin Rea vs PIT, Jose Soriano vs STL, Matt Manning vs MIA, Matthew Liberatore at LAA.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: None

Some interesting high risk options, but none that I am really enthralled with.

High Risk Options: Michael Wacha at SEA, Jose Butto vs PHI, Mitchell Parker at CHW, JP Sears at HOU, Ryan Weathers at DET, Quinn Priester at MIL

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Forgot/didn’t know about the significance of the Braden feat and day it was on. Great moment indeed.
