Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.

Closer Chaos

Ryne Stanek threw a perfect inning versus the A’s to register a save on Thursday. With Andres Munoz dealing with a back issue, Stanek appears to be the next man up for saves.

Tyler Kinley threw a third of an inning, allowing one hit and striking out one to register the save versus the Cardinals. Jalen Beeks had thrown 1.2 innings but was pulled after the fifth out in favor of Kinley. It is clear we have a committee in Colorado.

Quick Hits

Kris Bryant was placed on the IL with a rib contusion and Sean Bouchard was placed on the IL with an ankle sprain. There is no timetable for their returns. Michael Toglia and Greg Jones were recalled to take their spots on the roster.

Juan Soto left Thursday’s game with a forearm issue. He is expected to undergo further testing on Friday, but Jasson Dominguez was pulled from his rehab start in AAA in anticipation of Soto hitting the IL and Dominguez being brought up to the Majors.

Various News and Notes
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a home run in the loss to the Dodgers on Thursday.

Gonzales was the seventh overall pick in the 2020 draft, doesn’t have a massive projection from a ceiling perspective. However, he does have some pop and some speed which means he can accumulate as an everyday player. He has been extremely hot since his call up and making great contact and while that will likely regress, he can have value in deeper formats.

Cade Povich made his Major League debut on Thursday versus the Blue Jays, allowing six earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two in 5.2 innings in the loss.

Povich is one of the Orioles top pitching prospects and showed good stuff, but struggled to control it. He has struggled with command and control in his time in the minors, but he has had great strikeout rates as well. The Orioles are a great team to pitch for with their run support and great home park, so if Povich can tighten up the command and control, he could be a massive fantasy asset.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Cooper Criswell at CHW

Criswell has been good this season and has a nice matchup versus a bad White Sox team.

High Risk Options: Jake Irvin vs ATL, Michael Lorenzen vs SF, Alec Marsh vs SEA.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Simeon Woods Richardson at PIT

Woods Richardson has been great this season and gets a nice matchup in a great park.

High Risk Options: Luis Medina vs TOR, Ryan Feltner at STL, Alec Marsh vs SEA, Casey Mize vs MIL, Andrew Heaney vs SF.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
