Fun with arbitrary endpoints
All stats are through Saturday and for the past two weeks.

Luis Valbuena: 56 PA, .277/.393/.681; 6 HR, .241 BABIP
Maikel Franco: 50 PA, .326/.380/.630; 4 HR, .333 BABIP
Chris Parmelee: 39 PA, .333/.385/.750; 3 HR, .375 BABIP
Billy Hamilton: 45 PA, .250/.311/.275; 10 SB, .323 BABIP
DJ LeMahieu: 55 PA, .137/.200/.216; 1 HR, 4 SB, .150 BABIP
Jason Heyward: 50 PA, .370/.420/.674; 4 HR, 2 SB, .351 BABIP

Various news and notes

Steven Matz was better at the plate than on the mound in his debut for the Mets, going 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI. Matz gave up two homers and walked three in seven-plus innings of work, striking out six.

After struggling through most of his recent outings, Collin McHugh struck out eight Yankees over eight innings.

If you were like me and paid for Chris Archer at home against the Red Sox, boy were you disappointed. Archer gave up three bombs, though he did strike out 10.

In his two starts since returning from the DL, Stephen Strasburg has given up two runs over 12 innings, striking out 15. Strasburg has faced the Phillies and Braves, but still, it’s a good sign.

With Matz up, the Mets are once again in a position to move a starting pitcher if they so choose. The Dodgers are apparently interested in Jon Niese, and have some of the position player depth to make such a move beneficial for both sides.

This is more of Bullpen Report issue, but it seems like the Mariners are attempting to re-install Fernando Rodney in the closer’s role despite Carson Smith’s success.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Nathan Karns vs CLE (Cody Anderson)
I’m still seeing Karns available in far too many leagues, so take advantage.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Andrew Heaney vs NYY (Ivan Nova)
I really could take either pitcher in this matchup, so pick your poison or simply go with whomever’s cheaper.

Any chance you would roll Buchholz out against Toronto tonight. He has been pretty good this year, but prone to the blow up and I’m worried this could be one of those.

I’m optimistic about him generally and setting him today. Playing in Toronto is probably the worst situation for a pitcher this year.
