Roto Riteup: June 25, 2024

This was a fitting way to end last night:

On the Agenda:

  1. Quick Hits
  2. Various News and Notes
  3. Streaming Pitchers

Quick Hits

Fernando Tatis Jr. was placed on the IL with a quad injury. He is expected to miss about six weeks.

TJ Friedl was placed on the IL with a hamstring injury. There is no timetable for his return.

Adam Frazier was placed on the IL with a thumb injury. Michael Massey was activated to take his spot on the roster.

Bryan Woo left Monday’s start with a leg injury.

He is expected to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Orlando Arcia left Monday’s game with dizziness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Griffin Canning threw seven innings versus the A’s on Monday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out five in the victory.

Canning was good in the outing, getting a 29% CSW on his changeup, but this was just as much about how bad the A’s offense was than it was about how good Canning was. His command was better in the outing, but he has been inconsistent with it all season and this start won’t change much until he can build on it.

Blake Perkins went 1-for-2 with two walks and two stolen bases in the victory over the Rangers on Monday.

Perkins has quietly been pretty good this month for the Brewers, hitting .263 with six stolen bases in 57 at bats. Perkins doesn’t have a lot of power, but he hits well versus righties and there is a fair amount of speed for teams in deeper leagues.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: None

Some decent high risk options, but none that I trust.

High Risk Options: Logan Allen at BAL, David Peterson vs NYY, Kyle Hendricks at SF, Mitch Spence at LAA.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Simeon Woods Richardson at ARI

Woods Richardson has pitched well this season and gets an Arizona offense that hasn’t lived up to its potential.

High Risk Options: Spencer Turnbull at DET, DJ Herz at SD, Colin Rea vs TEX, Spencer Arrighetti vs COL, Trevor Rogers at KC.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Rough year for Friedl. He is a good ballplayer but has been hammered by injuries this year. The Reds need him so 2-3 weeks is actually good news.
