Various News and Notes/Quick Hits
Zac Gallen logged five innings of one run ball in his major league debut against the Cardinals, striking out six and walking two.

He threw 61-of-99 pitches for strikes and averaged about 92-93 mph on his fastball. As seen above, his change-up is his best offering and it looks lethal! I didn’t love his command and he only mustered 24 swinging/called strikes combined. It’s his first major league start and it was in a tough road environment in St. Louis, so I’m not too concerned. Overall exciting skill set; he needs to be owned in all formats despite not having a favorable probability for wins.

Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Rays.

The fact that the Rays were leading 4-1 entering the bottom of the ninth inning was even more exciting for the budding third baseman. Another savage part to this was the Athletics quote tweet of the Rays.

As for Chapman, the blast brings his home run total up to 17 for the year, with top-10% exit velocity and hard-hit%. He’s 15th at his position on the ESPN Player Rater, but I could see him hitting 35 HR with 90 RBI when it’s all said and done.

Adbert Alzolay hurled four innings of one-hit ball – a solo home run by Todd Frazier – with two walks and five strikeouts en route to his first major league win.

Alzolay threw 35-of-55 pitches for strikes and demonstrated sound mechanics and good command. He generated 20 swinging/called strikes and averaged almost 95 mph on his fastball. Like I said yesterday, he has two strong pitches in his fastball and curveball, and is a worthy pick-up in 15-team leagues.

Quick Hits:
The Tampa Bay Rays could potentially become a two-city team at some point.

Glenn Sparkman allowed one earned run on five hits over seven innings pitched against the Twins on Thursday. He’s now allowed two earned runs or less in three-of-four starts this month, but has only notched 10 K in 24 IP during that time. That’s not going to work pal.

Trevor Story is expected to be sidelined “multiple weeks.”

Brendan Rodgers was recalled and will likely man shortstop during Story’s absence, however, he didn’t start yesterday and was sent down just days ago.

Mike Clevinger is expected to be placed back on the 10-day IL due to an ankle injury.

It’s supposed to be a short stay. Aaron Civale will be the likely candidate to make a spot start for him on Saturday.

Andrelton Simmons suffered a setback with his ankle injury and was pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.

Simmons has been out almost exactly a month now and was about three weeks ahead of schedule in his attempted return. The team is saying he could still be back sometime next week, but I think we as fantasy owners shouldn’t expect that result.

Pete Alonso went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run – his 25th of the season – in the Mets loss to the Cubs yesterday.

Alonso has hits in eight of his last nine and is hitting .313/.436/.672 with six home runs this month.

Victor Robles hit his second home run in as many days and is riding a five-game hitting streak.

Julio Urias hurled three innings of scoreless ball with five strikeouts and one hit allowed on 43 pitches. Ross Stripling also pitched – allowing three unearned runs – on two hits with one strikeout.

Mike Yastrzemski hit his second home run in as many days against the Dodgers yesterday.

After hitting his first home run yesterday, Kyle Garlick swatted another bomb – a two-run shot – with three RBI against the Giants.

Wade LeBlanc twirled 6.1 scoreless innings against the Orioles – his third start this month allowing two earned runs or less.

Frankie Montas was stellar against the Rays – allowing one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. Charlie Morton was also great on the other side.

Tommy Pham hit his 11th home run of the year and swiped his seventh base against the Athletics. He’s also hitting .304/.381/.518 for the month June.

According to Greg Johns of MLB.com, Mitch Haniger could be sidelined through the All-Star break…..

Nolan Arenado is going to play through a sore toe. X-rays were negative.

According to Chandler Rome, Astros manager A.J. Hinch doesn’t expect Aledmys Diaz and Carlos Correa to “factor into the major league team” before the All-Star break.

Adalberto Mondesi was placed on the 10-day IL due to a groin strain. There’s no timetable for his return. Humberto Arteaga started at shortstop in his place.

Aaron Judge will be activated from the injured list today.

Dwight Smith Jr. went 0-for-3 with a walk in his return to the Orioles lineup.

Nick Senzel hit his seventh home run of the season and has hits in eight of his last ten games.

Yasiel Puig notched his 10th stolen base of the season and is hitting .288 in the month of June.

Christian Yelich hit his 28th home run of the season….

Danny Santana hit his third home run and swiped his second base in his last four games. He’s up to seven home runs and nine stolen bases for the season with a 312/.348/.532 line.

Carlos Santana hit his fifth home run in June yesterday and now has 15 for the season.

Jose Ramirez notched his 17th stolen base as well.

Charlie Blackmon and Ian Desmond continue to stay hot.

Ketel Marte grabbed four hits yesterday and has multiple hits in five-straight.

The Yankees and Astros game featured home runs from Gary Sanchez, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, two from Jake Marisnick, D.J. LeMahieu, Edwin Encarnacion, and Gleyber Torres.

Luis Rengifo hit his second home run this month and is hitting .295 as well.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. continues to rake since returning from the minors, and is now up to five home runs and a .297/.361/.594 line this month.

Teoscar Hernandez hit his third home run in the last three days.

Pitcher for Today: Griffin Canning at STL
I promise I’m not picking on STL. The Cardinals offense is 25th in wRC+ the last seven days (73) and sit league-average against RHP. Canning is a consistent source of strikeouts, and will do very well if he keeps the ball in the park.

High Risk Options: Mike Leake vs BAL

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Tommy Milone vs BAL
Milone has allowed three earned runs or less in all six of his outings and the Orioles are 24th in wRC+ against LHP.

High Risk Options: Cole Irvin vs MIA, Wade Miley at NYY
