Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.

Closer Chaos

Yimi Garcia was placed on the IL with an elbow injury. There is no timetable for his return. With Jordan Romano also on the IL, Chad Green appears to be the next man up in the Toronto bullpen for saves.

Quick Hits

Mookie Betts was placed on the IL with a broken hand. There is no timetable for his return. Miguel Vargas was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Anthony Rizzo will be placed on the Il with a fractured arm. The injury is expected to sideline him for 1-2 months making him droppable in most formats.

David Hamilton left Monday’s game with discomfort in his side. Consider him day-to-day at this time, but typically injuries like this end up with a 4-to-6 week recovery time.

Mike Tauchman left Monday’s game with groin tightness.

There was no update on his condition after the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Tyler O’Neill went 2-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Blue Jays on Monday.

O’Neill has been up and down this season, hitting for 14 home runs in 206 plate appearances, but also striking out at a 33% clip. He has not carried over the high contact approach we saw in limited time last season, but he has done a ton of damage on the swings he makes contact on. This approach will lead to great hot streaks and bad cold streaks, but it feels like he is entering another hot streak now.

Braxton Garrett threw six innings versus the Cardinals, allowing one earned run on five hits and no walks while striking out six in the no-decision on Monday.

Garrett has struggled in his return from the IL, but the underlying numbers are very good with a minuscule walk rate and a near league average home run rate. The command was fantastic in this one and if he can continue to command his stuff, we could see a nice second half breakout.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today:Michael Lorenzen vs NYM

Lorenzen has been great since joining the Rangers and faces a Mets team I am not afraid of.

High Risk Options: Lance Lynn at MIA, Albert Suarez at NYY, Casy Mize at ATL, Bailey Falter vs CIN, Griffin Canning vs MIL, Spencer Schwellenbach vs DET, Hogan Harris vs KC.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: None

A few decent high risk options but none I feel confident in.

High Risk Options: Cade Povich at NYY, Andrew Heaney vs NYM.

That’s a Mets team that cranked out 22 hits yesterday and is 5th in RC+ since May 1 and 1st (yes 1st) since May 15th.

Yep, the Mets are sizzling right now. It’s baseball so who knows, but streaming Lorenzen against them today is not low risk.

Yeah I continually refresh the L30 split on team wOBA/wRC+ throughout the season specifically so I know who to stream and who not to stream and I am not taking Lorenzen vs NYM at the moment.
