Roto Riteup: July 23, 2018

I don’t know how they got video of my defense in in my softball league, but it seems a bit out of line.

On the Agenda:
1. Rumors!
2. Various News and Notes
3. Streaming Pitchers

Rumors!
According to Jon Heyman of Fancred, the New York Yankees briefly engaged in talks with the Miami Marlins about Dan Straily. However, according to Heyman, stated the sides are not close and it appears unlikely they will come to a deal. The Yankees will likely make a move for a starter and while Straily doesn’t necessarily move the needle in fantasy, any pitcher coming over from the NL will make a difference in AL only leagues. Heyman also reported there has been interest by other teams in Sonny Gray. With the Yankees competing and their lack of rotation depth, it seems unlikely they move him.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, Asdrubal Cabrera is drawing interest from several teams on the trade market. Olney mentioned the Brewers, Indians and Phillies as the main contenders, but there are a number of other interested parties apparently. With the Mets in full Mets mode, it would be more surprising to see not move players like Cabrera.

According to Jon Heyman, the Braves are interested in free-agent to be Zach Britton. This isn’t surprising considering the Orioles are in full sell mode and Britton will likely be a hot name on the trade market over the next week and a half. Multiple teams have already expressed interest in Britton including the Dodgers, Cubs, Yankees and the Astros who are “all-in” in trying to acquire the lefty closer, according to Jim Bowden of MLB Network.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Oakland A’s have interest in acquiring Mike Fiers from the Detroit Tigers. Fiers has pitched well as of late, sporting a 1.62 ERA and a quality start in each of his last five starts for Detroit.

Various News and Notes
Sean Doolittle has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his foot after undergoing an MRI. Doolittle has already been on the DL for a few weeks and will now likely miss another few weeks at the least. Kelvin Herrera will continue to fill in for him while he recovers.

Noah Syndergaard was put on the 10-Day DL with hand, foot, and mouth disease.

He isn’t expected to miss much more time than the minimum 10 days, but the disease is highly contagious and the Mets don’t want it to spread to the rest of the team.

Joey Gallo left Sunday’s game after spraining his ankle. The extent of the injury has not been announced, but if he were to miss time, the that would likely help cement Willie Calhoun’s long term role with the team. Gallo is hitting an embarrassing .187/.299/.454, but has 24 home runs so far this season.

Streaming Pitchers Options
A pitcher for today: Eric Lauer @ NYM
The Mets have the lowest wOBA in the Major Leagues versus left-handed pitching. Lauer has a 3.17 ERA since the beginning of June.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Felix Pena vs CHW
If you are searching for quality starts, then Pena isn’t you man, but he has been great since joining the rotation for the beleaguered Angels rotation.
