Casey Schmitt was placed on the IL with hand inflammation. The Giants had hoped he could avoid the IL, but he was unable to get back in the lineup. The move is retroactive to June 27 and the hope is it will be a minimum stay. Tyler Fitzgerald was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

George Springer left Monday’s game after a collision with Jazz Chisholm Jr at third base.

Springer is reportedly fine and it was more of a precautionary removal due to his throat being hit. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Chadwick Tromp left Monday’s game with a back issue. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Trent Grisham left Monday’s game with hamstring tightness. This appears to be cautionary. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
Spencer Horwitz went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Cardinals.

Horwitz has been decent since returning from injury, hitting .258/.324/.383 with two home runs, but the power has not returned which is typical of wrist injuries. He has been a really good on-base guy in the past so if the power does start to come back, he could be a useful piece in deeper formats.

Adolis Garcia went 2-for-5 with a home run and the stolen base in the loss to the Orioles on Monday.

Garcia has struggled this year, hitting .225/.271/.388, but he has hit 10 home runs and stolen eight bases. Unfortunately the bad contact skills appear to have caught up to him. Until he can figure out how to make more consistent contact, he will crush averages and OBPs.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Giants on Monday.

Gurriel is hitting .250/.296/.414 this season with 11 home runs and seven stolen bases. However, he has hit .287/.346/.441 with seven home runs since the beginning of May which is much more intriguing than his overall season line.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: None

Charlie Morton’s start was pushed back due to an injury and the other options are not great.

Other Options: Edward Cabrera vs MIN, Andre Pallante at PIT, Colton Gordon at COL.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Simeon Woods Richardson at MIA

Woods Richardson has pitched better as of late and is facing a bad Miami team in a great park.

Other Options: Nick Martinez at BOS, Mitch Spence at TB.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
