Various News and Notes
Gio Urshela went one for three with a walk and a home run. He also fouled two balls off of the same leg in the same at-bat.

Urshela’s x-rays came back negative after the game, but he will likely miss a day or two. Urshela is having a breakout season with the Yankees and will be heavily relied upon with the number of injuries the team is facing. He is currently hitting .314 with 12 home runs in 320 plate appearances and is hitting near the middle of the lineup with Giancarlo Stanton, Luke Voit, Aaron Hicks, Gary Sanchez, and Edwin Encarnacion all on the IL.

Devin Smeltzer went six scoreless innings versus the Royals, striking out four. Smeltzer has been pretty good in the Majors this year, posting a 2.28 ERA in five appearances (three starts,) but doesn’t have great underlying statistics to back up what he is doing. He may stick in the rotation for a bit with Michael Pineda on the IL and the Twins not trading for a starter.

Donavon Solano hit two home runs versus the Rockies on Sunday. Solano is a career backup with a slick glove but has hit well in limited opportunities with the Giants. He has a .343/.374/.496 triple slash and four home runs in 147 plate appearances. However, with the Giants trading for Scooter Gennett, there isn’t a lot of playing time in his future, which makes him a DFS play at best.

Trent Grisham went 3-for-4 and a home run versus the Cubs. Grisham is a much more interesting fantasy prospect than a real-life one. He has some power and speed but is unlikely to break into the starting lineup often for the Brewers considering their current lineup. He is worth adding in NL Only formats but needs an injury to get more playing time.

The Marlins are calling up Lewis Brinson and Isan Diaz. Brinson is a former top prospect that has struggled in every one of his Major League opportunities. He has a ton of power and speed, but swings and misses at the plate a ton. He could end up having some Carlos Gomez like seasons, but that will be hard to predict when or if they will come. Diaz has more power than speed, but he has a better hit tool than Brinson as well. He should be a mainstay in the Marlins lineup for years to come.

Quick Hits
Gleyber Torres was removed from Sunday’s game with a core injury. After the game, manager Aaron Boone said Gregorius was sent to the hospital for further testing. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Brad Peacock is expected to pitch out of the bullpen upon his return from the IL.

The Blue Jays released Alen Hanson.

The Diamondbacks designated Zach Godley for assignment.

Spencer Turnbull will return from the IL on Monday and start a two-start week versus the White Sox.
