Various news and notes

Stephen Strasburg was pulled from yesterday’s start against the Rockies after feeling some pain in his upper back. Strasburg missed time earlier this year with a similar injury, but he claims it to be something that crops up from time-to-time and not something more sinister. Be on the lookout to see if Strasburg has to miss his next start.

Derek Holland put the Orioles in the dutch oven yesterday, striking out 11 batters in a complete game. Holland did not walk a batter, and has allowed just one free pass over his 22-plus innings this year.

While he’s been a disappointment this season, Ervin Santana did not disappoint Twins’ fans yesterday, racking up 10 strikeouts over seven innings against the Astros. Granted, the Astros are an easy team to strike out, but he also didn’t allow a run.

A.J. Burnett is hoping to make it back to the bigs in two weeks time after throwing 70 pitches in a simulated outing yesterday. With the minor league season rolling to a close, there won’t be a chance for Burnett to loosen up with a couple rehab outings before returning to the Pirates, so hopefully he’s able to keep the rust off. Burnett had an ERA under 2.00 before heading to the DL in July.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Colby Lewis at SD (Tyson Ross)
This isn’t about fun; it’s about getting Lewis away from Texas in a friendly environment.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Tyler Duffey vs CWS (Chris Sale)
Maybe this isn’t the best selection if you’re worried about Ws, but it should pan out in the other categories.

Speaking of Holland, who would you rather own for the last month of the fantasy season, Holland or Luis Severino?
