Various news and notes

Chris Rusin, he of a 1.53 WHIP heading into today, tossed a shutout against the Padres, striking out four and walking one. Rusin isn’t even considered a Quad-A guy, since he’s not exactly been effective in Triple-A, so be a smart person and let this be a blip on your radar.

Randal Grichuk was removed from yesterday’s game with an elbow injury, and he will receive an MRI to determine the extent of his issue today. Grichuk has been a nice development this year, flashing great power and rolling with a high batting average thanks to some friendly luck.

Michael Pineda threw 42 pitches in a rehab assignment last night as he works his way back from an elbow injury. The Yankees could use Big Mike back in their lives, but don’t expect them to rush him back after so few pitches. Pineda will likely make another start or two in the minors before getting the call back to the bigs.

After homering twice last night, Jason Heyward’s up to a 116 wRC+, exactly in line with his career line. Heyward will hit free agency at age 26 with plenty of projection left if the right hitting coach gets his hands on him. If not, Heyward’s still a great MLB player but a low-end fantasy option who can give you .265-10-20 seasons.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Jeremy Hellickson at PIT (Gerrit Cole)
Hellickson has been not-so-great this year, but I don’t hate him away from home, even if he’s been worse on the road this year.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Raisel Iglesias vs KC (Edinson Volquez)
There are a ton of great starters taking the hill on Tuesday, as well as plenty of mediocre ones to stay away from. Iglesias seems to be the lone one sitting in between.
