We didn’t anticipate an abbreviated outing like we had with Francisco Liriano Friday night, did we? Just 1/3 inning of an inning pitched, seven base runners and five earned runs.
Playing in Tampa did give me some apprehensions with Liriano, but I wasn’t expecting this disastrous outing. In that weather, the ball tends to fly, but this was absolutely nuts. Fantasy players were not happy about it either.
Taking a look at the entire slates on Friday though, the popularity and ownership surrounding Liriano is not too much of a surprise.
R.I.P to any technical devices that may have been harmed following his outing.

News and Notes
–Rich Hill has yet another blister and was placed on the 10-day DL. The blister is on his left middle finger, which isn’t ironic at all, but these types of situations can be frustrating. It could stick within the 10-day range, or we could expect the 37-year-old to miss a few rotations.
-Red Sox starter David Price will throw his first bullpen session Monday and his earliest return could be mid-May according to the Boston Herald.
-According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Nationals organization was not unanimous in regards to having Blake Treinen as their closer. Rookie Koda Glover was who believed to be the closer was even surprised by the call (or lack thereof). The reason why I bring this up could is in regards to the fact that having someone in the front office who is unsure about a player could impact Treinen’s playing time. He snagged his second save of the season Friday and Glover has yet to make his major league debut this season.
Red all about it
Speaking of major league debuts. Amir Garrett made his major league debut Friday and was sensational in the process. The 24-year-old top prospect in the Reds organization allowed just two hits with matching walks, striking out four in six scoreless innings. The Reds went on to defeat the Cardinals 2-0.
We like Garrett, but we aren’t quite in love with him yet. Not a bad stash away option, but keep an eye on his next couple of outings.
I may be Baez’d
I promise I will think of a better pun when it comes to Javier Baez in the near future.
When it comes to the 24-year-old, there’s good news and bad news in regards to the injury he sustained on Friday. The good news is, the scenario wasn’t serious enough where he had to go through concussion protocol. The bad news? He is dealing with a bruised eye and could miss a couple of days.
Margot?
Yes, Margot.
Manuel Margot made some noise in the batter’s box Friday.
From the daily side of things, it was a debate on whether to roster the 22-year-old, or outfielder Travis Jankowski. While Jankowski snagged a hit to his box score, Margot outdid himself.
Two solo homers off of veteran Matt Cain Friday settled the argument.
Margot has some major athletic ability and can steal bags with undeniable speed and range which will benefit him at the centerfield position. I like a Padres stack with all of the outfielders if the daily game is your preference. Especially because you won’t have to empty your wallet on the two young outfielders. You’ll also be able to snag Hunter Renfroe to complete it.
Very minor, but Koda Glover has pitched the last two days.
Additionally, while he is a rookie, he did make his MLB debut last season.
