Roto Riteup: April 7, 2023

Me looking for something to due when multiple games get rained out on a short slate:

On the Agenda:

  1. Quick Hits
  2. Various News and Notes
  3. Streaming Pitchers

Quick Hits

Omar Narvaez was placed on the IL with a calf strain. He is expected to miss about eight weeks. The Mets have called up top prospect Francisco Alvarez to take his place on the roster. Alvarez is a top priority pick up in all formats as he is expected to play full time between catching and the DH.

Michael Harris II left Thursday’s game with a back issue. It is considered minor and he is expected to return to the lineup quickly. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Mookie Betts started at second base on Thursday. This was his third start at second base this season which is 30% of the way to eligibility in most formats. He would instantly jump to the #1 player at the position considering how weak it is.

Various News and Notes

Blake Sabol went 3-for-6 with a home run in the victory over the White Sox on Thursday

Sabol was the Giants Rule 5 pick this year and impressed enough in Spring Training to make the roster. The Giants must keep him up all season in order to retain him. He has decent power, but there is some question whether the hit tool will be good enough in the Majors. He is eligible at catcher in most formats already and if he makes enough contact, he could be an interesting second catcher in most formats.

Lance Lynn threw 4.1 innings and allowed eight runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out five in the loss to the Giants on Thursday.

Lynn was working with reduced velocity in this one and did not look like himself. This is a bit concerning that it could be a sign of some sort of injury. Hopefully it is just a bad day, but it is something to monitor.

Orlando Arcia went 3-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Padres.

Arcia is a former top prospect and running extremely hot right now with a .370/.414/.667 triple slash and two home runs. He was once regarded as a speed and defensive first prospect, but he hasn’t run in years. He is more of a guy to stream while he is hot, but you could do worse in deeper leagues.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today:  Tylor Megill vs MIA

Megill has great stuff when he is on and has a really nice matchup.

High Risk Options: Brad Keller at SF, Nick Martinez at ATL.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Anthony DeSclafani vs SF

Disco looked pretty good in his first start and has a nice matchup at home.

High Risk Options: Tanner Houck at DET, Bailey Falter vs CIN.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

No, the word has it he’s going to stand on the mound and scream, “Chipotle makes the best burritos!”
