Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.

Quick Hits

Victor Robles was placed on the IL with a hamstring injury. There is no timetable for his return.

Eury Pérez will miss the rest of the season as he will undergo Tommy John surgery on Monday. This is disappointing news as the initial reports were that he would not need the procedure. Perez will likely be out until next summer.

Matt Carpenter was placed in the IL with an oblique strain. He is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.

Various News and Notes

The Oakland Athletics will move to Sacramento next season and play there for the next three years while their stadium in Las Vegas is being built. This was expected but it will have a fantasy impact. The stadium in Sacramento is a hitter’s park though not as extreme as other AAA parks. This will hurt A’s pitchers in dynasty and help their hitters, though it is hard to know who would even be on the A’s roster next season much less in the next few years.

Iván Herrera went 2-for-5 with a home run in the victory over the Marlins on Thursday.

Herrera got the start with Willson Contreras, who is dealing with a bruised hand. Herrera is an interesting catching prospect but he has a tough path to playing time with Contreras in front of him. However, if he were to find more playing time, he would be a really interesting C2 in a lot of formats.

Connor Joe went 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks in the victory over the Nationals on Thursday.

Joe has played well this season, hitting .346/.469/.615 with this home run and seven RBI in 32 plate appearances. However, He has played a lot because the Pirates have had a lot of lefties early in the season, he is unlikely to be in the lineup versus most righties, so this is a hot streak that can likely be ignored.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today:  Erick Fedde 페디 at KC

This is a decent matchup in a good park but also feels a tad bit risky since I don’t know what to make of Fedde yet.

High Risk Options:  Cody Bradford vs HOU, JP Sears at DET.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Steven Matz vs MIA

Matz looked good in his first start and the Marlins don’t scare me.

High Risk Options: Clarke Schmidt vs TOR, Keaton Winn vs SD, Trevor Rogers at STL, Nick Martinez vs NYM, Tyler Alexander at COL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
