Roto Riteup: April 16th, 2012

• Heath Bell is in a big pile of doo-doo after pitching poorly for his third straight outing. Due to his pedigree and new fancy contract, Bell is going to have to do a little more than that to lose his job finishing games in Miami. The Marlins have Steve Cishek and Edward Mujica waiting in the wings if they should choose to make a change.

• Ted Lilly got hit around a bit during his minor-league starts, but he pitched okay against the Padres in his 2012 debut. His strikeout numbers weren’t where they need to be, but he didn’t walk batters, and that’s always a good thing. Lilly’s value will be his WHIP, and this weekend’s start was a step in the right direction.

• Starlin Castro getting a head start on stealing bases this season is a welcome sight. If Castro could steal 30 bases (8 more than last season) while hitting .300, he could be a top-40 fantasy player.

• Jesus Montero watch: Montero has played two games at catcher for the Mariners. Just a few more before he becomes eligible in Yahoo! leagues.

For those of you who play daily fantasy games like FanGraphs: The Game, or just like to stream players, here are a couple matchups you may be able to exploit.

A Pitcher for Today: Jake Arrieta (BAL) at CWS
Arrieta still has problems with his command, but he has great velocity and life on his fastball.

A Pitcher for Tomorrow: Kevin Millwood (SEA) vs CLE
I recommended you take advantage of Millwood last week by playing all the Texas Rangers you could, but this week, I’m going to tell you to utilize Millwood.

A Hitter for Today: Yonder Alonso (SDP) at COL (J. Guthrie)
Alonso could be pretty good away from the open field that is Petco and Guthrie isn’t exactly a dominant starter.

Do I pitch either Humber or Leubke today?

I’m sitting Luebke. His career #s against CarGo, Tulo, Helton and even Fowler look pretty bad.

I thought we didn’t care about that stuff. Ever.
