Jose Ramirez continues to dazzle with a strong performance against the Tigers Saturday when he finished 4-for-4 with two bombs in the 13-6 win.

He’s on fire right now, in his last 22 plate appearances he’s slashing a .316/.368/.732 line. His walk and strikeout rate are parallel at 9.5% this season with an increase in flyball rate and hard contact percentage.

News and Notes

Jarrett Parker broke his collar bone when he crashed into the wall robbing D.J. LeMahieu. At the moment, there’s no timetable in regards to his return. This means his replacements could be a multitude of guys. Chris Marrero, Gorkys Hernandez, and Aaron Hill could take over responsibilities at the position.

Logan Forsythe is the latest victim of a hamstring injury which seems to be sweeping Major League Baseball. He had an abbreviated game Saturday night against the Diamondbacks and exited in the fourth inning with Enrique Hernandez taking over. He’s listed as day-to-day. He went 3-for-3 in the matchup and raised his numbers significantly. Forsythe was striking out a lot heading into the game and his power has diminished.

Rich Hill is starting Sunday against the Diamondbacks and returns after missing just one start following a blister issue on his finger.

Marcus

Injuries are so in right now.

A’s shortstop Marcus Semien will undergo a CT scan Monday after an MRI revealed a bone contusion on his right wrist. This is a recurring injury he’s been dealing with since the spring.

The 26-year-old is showing signs of improvements so far. His strikeout rate has decreased slightly, and at a small sample size, he’s walking more than double he was last season. (Yes, it’s barely enough data, I know), but an increase from 8.2% to 21.7% is fun to look at.

His power hasn’t increased yet, but he’s not known for hitting for that characteristic. He has however tackled some specialty pitches this season.

CC

Carlos Correa has been diagnosed with a right-hand contusion after his x-rays came back negative. It’s looking like just a bruise at the moment and if Correa does have to sit on Sunday, Alex Bregman will more than likely take over at shortstop.
