Quick Hits
Kris Bryant was placed on the IL with a back injury. This is being called a lumbar degenerative disc disease which doesn’t sound good. There is no timetable for his return but the Rockies sounded optimistic that he could be back shortly after the minimum stay.

Endy Rodriguez left Monday’s game with a lacerated finger.

Consider him day-to-day for now.

Christian Vazquez left Monday’s game with a hand injury. X-rays were negative after the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Shane Baz threw six innings versus the Red Sox, allowing one run on two hits and no walks while striking out 11 in the victory.

Baz was fantastic in the outing, getting a 38% whiff rate on his splitter while throwing three different pitches 30% of the time. The pitch mix and sequencing was fantastic and the stuff matched that. Baz has always had good stuff, but things seem to finally be all coming together for him this season.

Kameron Misner went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Red Sox on Monday

Misner has been fantastic since being called up, hitting .400/.444/.775 with three home runs and a stolen base in 45 plate appearances. More importantly, he is striking out at a 15.6% rate and his underlying contact metrics support that right now. Misner has struggled with contact in the minors, but the tools are very loud so if he can keep the contact above league average, he could have a massive breakout.

Pete Crow-Armstrong went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in the loss to the Padres on Monday.

Crow-Armstrong had been struggling but has turned it on the last couple of days. Most importantly, in spite of hitting .197/.264/.258 entering Sunday, he has already bumped up that to a .257/.313/.432 triple slash in two games and the underlying numbers look much better than they did last season. He currently has a x-contact above league average which is really encouraging after being over 5% below league average last season. If he can keep this up, there is a massive amount of upside in the speed outfielder.

Tyler Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Phillies on Monday.

Fitzgerald has been mediocre to start the year, but what people often remember with him is the hot streak last season where he 12 home runs and stole five bases in a month after the all-star break. However, the underlying skills during that runs were terrible which was in line with where they have been his whole career. He struggled before and after that hot streak and with the underlying skills still being bad, I am not believing that he will be viable in fantasy for long.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)
Pitcher for Today: Logan T. Allen at BAL
Allen has been decent to start the season and he is facing an Orioles offense that has not been very scary in Baltimore.

High Risk Options: Jake Irvin at PIT, Randy Vasquez vs CHC, Connor Gillispie vs ARI, Ryan Feltner at LAD

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Osvaldo Bido at CHW
Bido has pitched well and faces the worst team in baseball away from Sacramento.

High Risk Options: Nick Martinez vs SEA, Griffin Canning atMIN, David Festa vs NYM, Bobby Miller vs COL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
