Paul Sporer: Kennedy. He “leads” baseball in HR rate. Too dangerous

Not your buddy, Guyer: What’s the deal with Trayce Thompson? Would you drop him for any of Guyer, Kepler, Souza or Asche in a 12-team OBP 5 OF league?

Paul Sporer: Trayce is ice-cold. I can get behind hot-handing that spot

Chris: How concerned are you about Harvey long term? I can move him and Tai Walker to land Anderson Espinoza and Folty in my dynasty league. Or I can shop Harvey to get Glasnow.

Paul Sporer: I’d rather shop him for a hitter otherwise you could be in the same predicament in a year or two. This just in: pitching is super-risky. Btw, consider Strasburg’s 2015 before freaking out about Harvey long-term

Paul Sporer: I really like McCullers. He actually JUST walked me, but he’s really tough to hit (I think we’re seeing some BABIP volatility in his hit rate) and can get tons of Ks. The BBs will come down

Dewey: Thoughts on Rich Hill and Alex Wood in the 2nd half?

Paul Sporer: Both injury risks, but I love Hill when pitching. I could see him finding his way to a contender, too. Perhaps back to Boston. never been a huge Alex Wood fan

Paul Sporer: Tigers don’t get Cleveland again until September (15 ER v. JV) so I’ll go with JV barely

Paul Sporer: I’m really not hot on Z, but catcher has been SO bad that I’d take a shot at this point

Michelle: 14 team mixer with 45-man rosters. Blessed with 4 SS’s (Villar, Semien, Tulo, and Jose Reyes). Looking to get rid of Reyes. What’s a reasonable asking price?

Paul Sporer: Whatever the market will bear, tbh. Really difficult for me to identify that because it’s entirely based on standings, needs, and what your other leaguemates will pay

Dustin McGowan: I miss when Manny Machado would run. Why isn’t he running anymore? He’s still super awesome but if he could get me 15ish steals like he used to, that would be v helpful!

Paul Sporer: 6 SB per 162 games from 2012-14 then a spike to 20 last year. Not sure we should be too surprised by the fall off. Steals are remarkably volatile which is why they’re tough to rely on from anyone but the true rabbits like B-Ham, Revere, and that ilk

Friend: Is Lonnie Chisenhall destined to be a dude who has a string of awesome games so you pick him up on waivers only to have him do nothing in your lineup only to drop him so some other poor sucker can fall for the same trap forever and ever?

Paul Sporer: Ya, I mean. He’s a capable major leaguer so he will have stretches of usefulness, but he’s not a star so tough to rely on him

Lance: Need saves badly: Puig too much to give up for Osuna in 10-team redraft?

Paul Sporer: No, Osuna is a beast

Who is John Gant?: In a league with limited keeper spots, Urias puts you in a bit of a bind, right? Will still have an innings limit next year, no more data points for this year, and hasn’t been dominant enough to be clearly worth the stash. Total question mark.

Paul Sporer: Totally agree. Would be a question mark as a 20 y/o SP without the IP concerns, those just make it a lot worse. Tough keep in anything but NL-only and dynasty

Ian: Would you deal Correa/Tillman for Stras/Semien in a H2H points, keep 3? Points so SP are super key and have Trout/Kershaw/Thor as other potential keepers to offset Correa… Just have visions of rolling Kershaw, Thor, Strasburg, Tanaka in a playoff week.

Paul Sporer: I would honestly say not to give any real consideration to the keeper aspect right now. You’re trying to win and that’s what matters. If you think this makes the team better, push forward. I generally prefer the Correa side, but if pitching is v important then you might want to get Stras just so you have volume to cover things in the playoffs. Consider that all four of those horses are risky. Kershaw already on DL. Thor has elbow issues. Stras just off DL. Tanaka UCL tear he’s been playing through. Feels weird that RIGHT NOW, Tanaka is the safest of that group

Papi: What’s wrong with Y. Grandal this year? Can he recover? Droppable in 14 team OBP league?

Paul Sporer: No, they’re 2.5 out of the WC. You can still get more in the offseason with that kind of deal.

Gavin: Pineda good enough to get three outs an inning. Why go to the stretch at all when that’s where everything falls apart. Let them run! He’ll get out of it! What is so crazy about that?

Paul Sporer: I do think he’s a bit overrated right now to the point where expectations are that he will DEFINITELY click upon arrival and that’s just tough to put on anyone. I wouldn’t hold him in 10-teamers

Paul Sporer: Well he jumped to AAA so the higher level presented a challenge. Three of his eight AAA starts have been pretty lame. I’m not too worried, though

Johnny T: How do you feel about Espinosa? He worth dumping Starlin Castro for? (Javier Baez worth more than Espinosa?)

Paul Sporer: Baez is basically a younger version of Espy w/a bit more upside, so I’d go Baez. Baez, Espy, Castro is probably how I’d rank them. Maybe Espy tops if you really need pop since his PT is stronger

Jackie T. : Is there a way we can make the chats searchable in the top search bar? It would be great if we could see search to see when a player has been discussed in a chat.

Paul Sporer: I love Schoop. He’s started cutting into the K% and I still think he can add to the BB% in the future. Just 24 y/o still.

12 Team Redraft H2H: What sort of bat could I get for Braun and Price? Looking to free up a roster spot for Brantley coming off the DL, and my staff is solid (Kersh, Thor, Bum, Price, Shark, Shoe, Aaron Sanchez)

Paul Sporer: A really good one, presumably. Those are two good players

Jackie T. : McCullers or Pineda in a QSs league? Really need those QSs.

Paul Sporer: I prefer L-Mc

Ryan: Im worried about Cargo being traded, his away splits are discouraging. Is Conforto plus a piece a good enough return in dynasty?

Paul Sporer: Ehhh, I guess. But I don’t think he’d fall apart w/another. A factor in his road stats is the Coors hangover, so losing that would help counterbalance some hit from leaving Coors

Steve: In a 12-team standard H2H, would you drop Brett Gardner for Max Kepler? He’s on a tear.

Paul Sporer: Sure, take a shot.

Josh: Kang was just dropped in my 12 team mixer. Is he worth an add over Reddick? Bregman better than both when he gets the call?

Paul Sporer: Understanding that Kang’s fantasy value is absolutely secondary to these allegations against him, I’d go Reddick, Kang, Bregman in terms of rank

Mojo: 10 team, standard, H2H, keep 8 at cost of round drafted (+inflation). Prefer Kluber (can keep for a 12th rounder) or Darvish (22nd) – or look to swap both for help this year?

Paul Sporer: Definitely prefer Darvish at a 10-rd discount

Dr. Met: Re: machado running, even trout slowed down his steals to focus on power. i thought i read someone say that steals contributed more to fatigue and injury risk so easy choice to slow that part of the game down

Paul Sporer: Yeah I feel like we always see these heart of the lineup studs stop running or at least not do it with bankable reliability once they become the superstar. The “bankable” part is the key, though, because Trout himself is back to running more this year.

Dave: Any reason to hold McGee in a non-holds league? Would you drop him for Soria?

Paul Sporer: Ya, espec. w/Ottavino on his way back, too

Tom: Melvin Upton the real deal or is he a prime sell-high guy? Thanks!

Paul Sporer: It’s only a .743 OPS, so ya I think it’s real. He has pop and speed and as long as he’s healthy, those are staying IMO

Josh: Taillon is on waivers in my 12 team mixer. Is he worth a claim over the likes of Gio, McHugh, or McCarthy?

Paul Sporer: Ehhhh, probably not. Just not that many innings left in the tank this year. I’d probably look toward the others

mookie best: Am I crazy to ponder benching McCutchen for platoon-advantage Reddick or Duvall (also have betts & jbj)? Daily transactions so I can act when Cutch gets hot but damn he’s frustrating, esp when I have options… thanks dude

Paul Sporer: I’m usually strongly a “start-your-studs” guy, but I like your gameplan here and the ability to drop him in if he does catch fire makes it easier to bench him for a bit in favor of Reddick / Duvall in their favorable matchups.

Josh Bell: All I have ever done, since being a highly touted HS player is hit. I’m .300/.370/.460 for my career in the minors but never been a top 25

Paul Sporer: Solid top-50, though. 1B prospects don’t always get their love

Rags: Is W Chen back?

Paul Sporer: I think he’ll be better than a 5-something, but I do worry about the surge in HRs across the league really impacting him

Paul Sporer: I’d give that a shot. It’d be a nice buy-low on Cole (not that low, Sano is no shlock, obv)

Zoo Nino: Man, in my 10-Team AL $200 cap lg, I just got offered half seasons each of Archer, Paxton, E5, and Cano for 2 yrs Trout ($16), 3 yrs Profar ($1) and 2 yrs Darvish ($3) and $1 Chad Green. I have a narrow lead but need AVG, Wins, ERA & WHIP. Suck it up and lose my keepers to win, or would you hold?

Paul Sporer: I’m not sure this trade guarantees you the win, so no. I’d need a lot more bankable talent to deal that haul

BT: On panik/gordon – don’t need steals because it’s a points league but I’m thinking that I can move zobrist to OF and murphy to 3B once gordon returns. Just questioning how much of an upgrade it will be if gordon is cold coming back

Pepperoni: Samardzjia has been pretty bad recently (1 QS in his last 7 starts). Do you foresee him righting the ship a bit, or was the first 6 weeks or so a mirage?

Paul Sporer: I think he will be OK, but more mid-to-upper 3.00s than the sub-3.00s from early in the season
