Justin Mason: I think I lean Bradish here, but depends on how risky I wanted to play it. Bradish could get smoked vs BOS

Punk in Drublic: In NL Only, who do you like out of Vince Velasquez, Joey Lucchesi, Tommy Henry and Jeremiah Estrada for the next month or so?

Justin Mason: I think I lean Estrada here because he has the stuff to close in Chicago.

Rick: Would you swap Mountcastle for Abreu in a shallow h2h ops league? trying to be patient with abreu given the sss but his power seems gone btw last year and this year. without a BA bump like last year, he isnt adding much value

Justin Mason: Yes, I would. I am worried about Abreu

Braves’ Fan: How does the log jam at AAA for starters play out? Soroka, Elder, Dodd, Shuster the correct order?

Justin Mason: I think that is the right order

Rick: how would you rank haniger, soler and nootbar in a h2h ops league?

Justin Mason: Soler, Nootbaar, Haniger

Ned: Whadaya think about Stone Garrett in DC?  Maybe 15-20 HRs ROS? Maybe more? 🙂

Justin Mason: It all depends on whether or not he can maintain the improved contact. If he can, he could definitely hit 20+ rest of the way.

Broski: Hey Justin, what do you think about dropping Brady Singer for Matt Strahm…near and long term.
I’m in a partial keeper league, and I have singer for six dollars which is a really good deal, but I can pick Strom up off the waiver wire for a bike.

Justin Mason: I am a bit stubborn on the guys I like so I am not ready to give up on Singer yet. Strahm was great in his last outing, but I worry about his role long term.

Erich K.: Justin, with Andrew Abbott being promoted to AAA and ostensibly being near a call up to the Reds I was curious to know your thoughts on him. How do you project him out for this season and what do you see as his ceiling? Thanks!

Justin Mason: I am not going to pretend I know much of anything about him. The numbers look great but the scouting scores are kind of meh.

Patrick: Are you stashing any of these guys right now: Liberatore, Bibee, Stone, Tiedemann?

Justin Mason: I am stashing Bibbee and Stone right now. Tiedmann is really enticing but I don’t know when he will be up.

Chucky: Aaron Nola no longer strikes me as that *set and forget* kind of pitcher/player. Are you starting him @ Houston over the likes of Jon Gray @ Cincinnati, Wesneski v SD or Luis Garcia @ TB?

Justin Mason: Yeah, I am still rolling with him.

The Batman: In a Saves/Holds league, would you rather bet on talent like Aroldis or Bard who aren’t putting up S/H, or go with guys actually producing S/H right now but aren’t as electric like Erik Swanson?

Justin Mason: I think I would rather bet on Chapman or Bard

Alex: What’s the outlook at this point on Miguel Vargas? Does he need to be dropped?

Justin Mason: I am not worried about Vargas. His xBA is fine. Might need to become a bit more aggressive but I think he will be fine.

Rick: do you think jon gray will be okay assuming he stays healthy and cuts down on the walks? hes never seemed to have major control issues in the past so hoping this will pass

Justin Mason: I think if he is healthy, he will be ok, but health can be an issue with Gray. I wonder if there is an injury there already.

Babo: Im in a points league with a big weighting on QS, which group of starts do you think will do better this week:

A) Alex Cobb vs STL , Mitch Keller vs LAD, Eovaldi vs NYY

B) Nestor Cortes @ Tex , Cobb at SD

Skipper: 12-team mixed 5×5 keeper.  My pitching has been awful, and I’ve lost Woodruff for who knows how long.  Got offered an $8 Pablo Lopez for a $11 Jazz Chisolm.  Would prob cost me some points in SB and my backup options at 2B are LeMahieu and I. Paredes, but Chisolm’s K% has exploded and his batted ball profile looks atrocious (all of which means he’ll probably explode the minute I trade him).  Should I pull the trigger?

Justin Mason: I don’t have an issue with this deal. If I needed the pitching, I’d do it.

Chris: Suzuki, hays and Greene ROS in a redraft 5×5 league?

Justin Mason: Suzuki, Green, Hays

Jack: What are you doing with Maeda? He is so unlucky right now and we can’t seem to make heads or tails on if he is worth a roster spot. AL only. Logan Allen and griffin canning are available in my league.

Justin Mason: I would rather have Allen or Canning

ober: are they really going to send down?

Justin Mason: Unless there is an injury that we haven’t heard about yet. Maeda?

Rick: are canning and bradish in the same ballpark rankings-wise for you? h2h league W, K, ERA, WHIP league

Justin Mason: I think they are. Bradish is a bit ahead for me due to Canning being in a six man rotation and his health history.

Chris: Would you be trying to sell Soto if he was on your team? Or is it a hold and hope situation? Anyone in particular you’d target in a trade that was drafted after him?

Justin Mason: Got to hold I think

Vic: Ohtani as a pitcher or hitter this week. I mean it is Oakland….but then again it is Oakland for 4 games as a batter?

Justin Mason: I could go either way. Depends on what your team needs more

Pete: Hi Justin, who is the better bet for sbs ROS – Leody Tavares, Jose Siri, Bae, Joey Wiemer, Chas McCormick,  or Bryce Turang?

Justin Mason: I think it is Tavares but I could be swayed into Bae

Justin Mason: I was in on him in draft season and while the first few starts were rough, I think he is going to be good ROS

Chris: Thoughts on pasquantino? His statcast numbers are great but his actual results have been meh

Justin Mason: I think he will be fine once the weather starts to heat up in KC. I am not worried about him as of yet.

Guest: What do you expect for Garret Whitlock ROS?

Justin Mason: I think he has really good stuff, but the command has been spotty early. If he can get that under control, he could take a big step. I am a bit skeptical it happens this season though.

Vic: Pick 3 please: O’Neill, Donovan, Leody, Gunnar, JD Davis?

I Used to be Mel Clark: What do you do with Josh Lowe going forward in a 16-team weekly roster league?

Justin Mason: I think you have to be thrilled with the early season production. The contact looks great and he is playing regularly. Unless we see him revert back, he is a potential stud that you got for cheap.

Reade: Drop Esteury Ruiz for Ke’Bryan Hayes? 12 team H2H categories (6×6 with avg, ops).

Justin Mason: Sure

Bruce Live in 2023: Middle infielder needed: Geraldo Perdomo , Brice Turang, Oswald Peraza, Luis Garcia.  Daily Roto

Justin Mason: I am rolling with Peraza right now but Garcia is probably the safer option.

Pete: Logan Allen, Graham Ashcraft, Griffin Canning ,or Matt Brash for back of rotation?

Justin Mason: Ashcraft.

Tim: Would you be patient with someone like Santander or Conforto, or try to catch lightning in a bottle with someone like Marsh, Ramirez, or one of the Pirates’ sluggers?

Justin Mason: I would be more paitent with Santander, but I don’t mind dropping Conforto for MArsh

I Used to be Mel Clark: Alek Thomas with 2 homers in the last 5 games and his savant page is covered in red. What is your expectation RoS?

Justin Mason: I think this may be your last chance to buy low. I like the contact profile and how much he is pulling the ball. The defense will keep him playing even when he slows down.

Barry Bonds: Any concern about Morton’s strikeout rate? Seems like he’s becoming more and more of a slow starter. Any worry he’s no longer a strikeout per inning pitcher?

Justin Mason: A bit. The swinging strike rate is down and zone contact is way up. This might be by design to get out of innings quickly, but it is not like he has elite defense behind him.

K2: Are you in for an Oviedo two start week vs. LAD and @WAS? If not, would you go Ryne Nelson vs. KC or go for a generic non-closing RP?

Justin Mason: I am in for Oviedo. The Dodger one is scary, but the Washington one is juicy.

Da Family: Someone dropped Scott Barlow. Dare I pick him up?

Justin Mason: I might just on spec

Not Brett Wisely: Looking for steals in a 13 team NL keeper league, and I picked  up Brett Wisely. Think he keeps getting ABs/ends up doing  anything with the ones he gets?

Justin Mason: Probably not

M.F. Luder: The Angels whole seems consistently less than the sum of its parts. Do you think there is a chance this will start to turn around?

Justin Mason: If their history is any indication, it wont. I am hoping it does because I think he deserve to see Trout and Ohtani in the playoffs together, but I don’t know if I believe it will happen.

Tyrone Taylor: Do you Tyrone Taylor will get decent playing time when healthy?

Justin Mason: I think he gets some but it depends on if their other options are healthy or not.

Fleur de (Ado)Lis: Help me keep the faith that Riley Greene, Ke’bryan, Gimenez, and Kirk are gonna snap out of their luke-warm starts to the season and start producing?

Justin Mason: I am not super worried about anyone I had faith in before the season unless there is a real mechanical or health issue. It has been three weeks.

Ted: What’s your trust level with Brito? Or, more specifically, what do you need to see him do to start using him with any sort of regularity in 12-teamers?

Justin Mason: He is probably a streamer

Guest: Would you start Edward Cabrera tonight against ATL? Otto FG points league…

I Used to be Mel Clark: Which 2B has the best RoS in an OBP league — Brice Turang, Rodolfo Castro, or Christopher Morel?

Justin Mason: Turang

Rick: what sort of return would you be looking for outman? top 100? are you still moving him if you can get a great return or has he done anything to warrant worth keeping ros in redraft leagues?

Justin Mason: I think if I got an offer for a top 50-75 player, I would move him but if not I would just ride with him.

M Strahm: Will I remain in the rotation for the next couple of months and get stretched out, or will I move to the pen soon when Suarez might return or I reach an IP limit?  Thanks

Justin Mason: I think he moves to the pen once Suarez returns unless someone else gets hurt. His stuff plays better than Falters in the pen, but I could also see the Phillies move Falter to the pen or AAA.

Jj: Any thoughts on Machado? Has he shown anything that makes you think he turns it around soon?

Justin Mason: I think he will because he is just always good. Being a bit too passive in the zone. I am not super worried yet

AJ: who are your biggest Low Buy candidates – AL & NL?

Justin Mason: I’ll be writing that article today. Should be out on Fantasy Pros tomorrow or wednesday.

Catch These Hands: Hey! Thanks for doing these. I’m in a bad spot at catcher. Got in on O’Hoppe after my draft (18 team, 6×6 OBP, SLG) and now that he’s down I am desperate for any warm body. Any advice on low ownership cubic zirconias in the rough?

Justin Mason: Man, that is tough in a league that deep. Matt Thaiss is taking his spot and has a decent bat. Joey Bart has played well since returning. Jason Delay is playing well for the Pirates as well.

LGM: You think Estrada gets a shot to close for Cubs

Justin Mason: If the other guys keep struggling, he could.

Rick: all things equal, are you holding grayson rodriguez in shallow redrafts? or do you view him more of a team streamer? Ks are there. but so is the shaky control. and no wins 🙁

Justin Mason: Probably a team streamer in shallow leagues.

Guesty: Hi Justin, are you holding onto guys like Elder, Cabrera, and Mason Miller over guys like Pfaadt, Liberatore, LTAllen, and other pitching prospects or even MLB pitchers like ERod, Strahm, and Gore.

Justin Mason: I would probably not. I prefer E-Rod, Pfaadt, and Allen to all three.

Chip: Is Steven Kwan experiencing a sophomore slump, or is he not the guy we thought he was last year?

Justin Mason: He will be fine. Dude has a 97% z-contact and is just running a low BABIP right now.

Farhandrew Zaidman: Do you think the Dodgers keep splitting ABs between Peralta and Heyward, or is there too much overlap there any one will eventually be favored over the other?

Justin Mason: I think they need to bring someone else in and will at some point. Until then it is a shared job.

Gallegos: What are the chances he ends up getting around the same saves as Helsley this year? His slider has been electric and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to who will play the fireman role (Helsley was called upon in the 7th yesterday).

Justin Mason: I think he could definitely get some sneaky saves. I had him on some faab lists yesterday in deeper formats.

Guest: Is Dansby just an average/runs guy now? Do you think he rebounds some power/is he worth trying to move for draft-level value?

Justin Mason: I think he rebounds. He is just weirdly hitting everything on the ground right now.

Toph: Is Bryan Abreu worth adding yet? Dynasty league, we count saves (but not holds) and to make the add, it cost $3 real dollars (it’s a fun way we run our league so you don’t run out and add every hot got off the FA pile?)  Would likely be cutting Mike Clev.

Richie Sexyson: Which Tiger has the brighter outlook ROS in 5×5 draft and hold, Lorenzen or Turnbull?

Keith: who would you target in trades at LF with Brandon Marsh and Steven Kwan in a 12 team H2H points league? I’m 2-1 with 6th most points scored

Check Mate: Regardless of position, in a keep three league where neither is likely to be kept, would you rather have Jung or Soler ROS?

Broken Bat: CWS… roster construction. While I tended to give GM Hahn a pass because  if the forced LaRussa thing and Kenny Williams perhaps a voice not needed anymore, it’s becoming apparent to me that Hahn just may be bad. The. Levi her and Benenteddi signings.Garcia a year ago and still being paid, Pollack taking less money to ply just to get away from south side. What do you think root problem is on south side Chicago?

Justin Mason: Man, I have no idea. This team should be much better than it has looked.

Rickey: would you drop Drury or Steer when Moncada comes back? (H2H OPS league)

Braves Catcher Situation: Good news that d’Arnaud has started baseball activities. How do you see the workload being balanced once he returns? Murphy seems to feed off playing consistently. Will that finally signal the end of the Ozuna experience?

Justin Mason: I hope they just get rid of Ozuna, but I was not a fan of the early usage.

BarryBaker: with Mason Miller sticking in the rotation – is 100 IP with 120 K’s,  a 3.45 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP not out of question? What’s a realistic expectation going forward for him

Justin Mason: I think that is an ok projection. Might be a little low on the ERA, but I think the biggest issue is health and the fact he won’t get wins. For that reason, he is hard to roster because he is almost like a really good middle reliever.

Justin Mason: I would love them to give him a shot, but I worry this turns into a committee if Fulmer or Boxberger don’t grab the reigns.

Justin Mason: Too little. I want the moon right now

Jeimer Candelario: Coming from someone in an NL Only league, should I be worried that he’s playing himself into being a decent trade piece for the Nats and could move to the AL? Would the Phils make sense as a trade partner or is it remotely possible the Nats hold onto him since Kieboom seems to have a setback every other month?

Justin Mason: I would be shocked if they don’t move him at the deadline

Fulmer: What to do with him in an NL Only league? Cut bait or hold and stash Boxberger until the next save chance comes up? Any love for Brandon Hughes?

Justin Mason: Hold

McCutchen: Why isnt there more love for my teammate Suwinski? His Statcast #s look great…

Justin Mason: Because he strikes out a ton and will be platooned

Rick: are we past the time when K rates stabilize? if so, is it time to start buying in on at least a partial return to form for cody bellinger?

Justin Mason: I think we are getting close. I was a buyer of Bellinger in draft season and still am

James “Can’t Get Him” Outman: Am I the real deal (e.g. a top-25 OF all season)? Or should my owners get out while the wave is cresting?

Justin Mason: Top 25 is a bit high but I am a beliver he is top 35-40

RAGBRAI: Snell turned it around in the second half putting up outstanding numbers. Will we have to wait again until July for him to get going?

Dr. Funk: 14 team dynasty league with 23 man rosters what should with abrams?   I’m not getting a lot of bites on the trade market, is he cuttable or do I just need to be patent?

Justin Mason: I would be patient

Jesse: Brice Turang? Is he toast because the league learned how to pitch to him or can he hit 250-260 with some power and speed?

Justin Mason: Don’t think there is much power, but I think he can hit 260 and steal bases

Steven Matz: How much longer of a leash will he have before the Cards trade away one of their young hitters to replace him in the rotation? I loved what I saw in Spring, but it’s been ugly so far.

Justin Mason: I think he has a little leash, but the Cards want to win so he might only get through may

Masons stick together: Hi Justin, thanks for doing these! In shallower leagues (10 team 6cat QS) do you think it is better to gamble on k upside with guys like Mason Miller, Logan Allen or Matt Strahm or hold on to solid guy like Jordan Montgomery with out the K upside.

Justin Mason: I think I would rather have Montgomery over all of those

Rick: are you moving any shares of matt olson? optically his numbers are good but that K rate is SCARY

Juan Yepez: Do you see Juan Yepez getting traded this year and/or getting some extended run with the Cardinals? Seems like he could be a worthwhile NL only bat if he can get some playing time?

Justin Mason: I would love to see them do it, but I don’t think they do.

Justin Mason: Man, people really took that tweet out of context. The premise is dumb. We are playing a game based on being imaginary GMs of imaginary teams. That doesn’t mean I don’t love it! I love the game. I love playing it. I take it very seriously. Lighten up a little. It is still a game

Joe: 10 team roto league: I’m streaming Grifffin Canning tomorrow but am likely gonna drop him after his start on Wed AM for one of Velasquez, Ed-Rod, Logan Allen or Joey Lucchesi (just for the stream against WSN). How would you rank em?

Justin Mason: I think I would be pretty aggresive considering the upside, but I am worried he keeps having setbacks.

Jack: Where are you on Kyle Gibson? He is using his sweeper a ton and has a good home ballpark and a favorable upcoming schedule. Think he is a year long guy, or matchup guy with his new pitch mix?

Justin Mason: I think he is a team streamer that you hold and pick your matchups with. Love seeing the new pitch mix

Rich: Jose Berrios’s YTD stats are ugly (6.23 ERA, 1.20 WHIP), but he’s got the highest CSW% of his career (30.6%) and a 19% K-BB%, which is comparable to his best season in 2021 (20 K-BB%). He was pretty reliably good before last year’s debacle, but he’s still giving up a lot of hard contact, particularly on his fastballs, and his Statcast xERA is a lackluster 5.07. What do you expect ROS? Can he pitch to a mid- to high-3’s ERA like he consistently did until last year? Would you cut him for any of Logan Allen/Griffin Canning/Drew Smyly/Kyle Gibson/Wade Miley/Matt Strahm?

Justin Mason: I think I would hold for now, but I understand cutting him if you are worried for Allen.
