Daily Fantasy Strategy — April 30 — For Draftstreet

If I were to tell you yesterday – when I originally looked at the leaderboard – that Jayson Werth has been the fourth best hitter in the major leagues over the past calendar year would you have believed me? I wouldn’t have believed me.  Despite watching Freddie Freeman on basically a nightly basis, I wouldn’t have pegged him sixth either. On the pitching side of things, it’s pretty cool to see that Scott Kazmir has been a top 20 pitcher over the past year.

I always enjoy looking back using the leaderboards, because no matter how much ball I watch I always miss something/under-appreciate someone. Onto to our task of the day.

Probables Chart

I mentioned it last week, but it fills futile to keep highlighting Aaron Harang at this point. On the other side of the coin, if doesn’t feel futile at all to highlight Hector Noesi. I’m actually surprised he was picked up by another team so quickly. Stacking lefties against David Phelps isn’t a bad idea, except for the fact that the Mariners’ offense has been dreadful so far. Once again there is a lot of bad weather around the league, so match-ups today are a little tougher to find.

The Daily Five

Nationals stack

Jayson Werth – $7,116
Ian Desmond – $5,104
Anthony Rendon – $7,453

I know, I know we chose them yesterday. Given the ability of each man above to punish left handed pitching, I’m rolling with them again. The fact that the game takes place in a controlled environment is just icing on the cake.

Carlos Gomez – $6,926

Gomez doesn’t have the platoon advantage today, but I don’t care. I’m amazed every day at his price. His ceiling on a daily basis is one of the highest, and he’s under $7,000. Until his price goes up – hopefully it doesn’t – Gomez will likely be a daily fixture in my lineups.

Yordano Ventura – $10,138

He’s the cheapest pitcher on the board tonight. I’m not sure I need to say anything further.

Small nit, you have Bruce Chen still listed in your probables chart.
Also weather going to be a factor in Bal/NY/Phil/Bos?
