Roto Riteup: July 10, 2015

Today’s Roto Riteup was written while District 9 played in the background. It’s one of my favorite original screenplays (technically it was adapted from a short, but director of the short was the same as the movie, Neill Blomkamp) and definitely one of my best films from 2009.

On today’s agenda:
1. Starling Marte’s injury status
2. Bad news for Steven Matz
3. Matt Holliday’s potential return
4. Streaming Pitching Options

Rather than stick with soccer, instead I’ll shift to something we can all agree on: music! Yesterday morning the users over at Absolute Punk released their top 50 albums from 2000-15 (warning: language). As the website name would suggest, the list is largely dominated by the punk and pop-punk scene, however other genres make appearances as well.

On today’s agenda:
1. Alex Gordon’s injury
2. Scott Kazmir and Jason Hammel leave respective starts
3. Consider John Jaso
4. Streaming Pitching Options

Yesterday the USMNT narrowly edged out Honduras by a 2-1 score. Both the defense — specifically the center and right side — looked shaky, though the 4-4-2 formation (with a diamond midfield) in the attack at least showed decent signs of life. I might be overly critical here, but that looked and felt like a pretty lucky three points.

On today’s agenda:
1. Cesar Hernandez, starting second baseman
2. Jake Odorizzi’s rehab progresses
3. Good news for Gerardo Parra owners
4. Streaming Pitching Options
