The 2023 version of the Bullpen Report includes five different sections, as well as the closer chart, which can be found at the bottom of the page.
We will always include a link to the full Closer Depth Chart at the bottom of the Bullpen Report each day. It’s also accessible from the RosterResource drop-down menu and from any RosterResource page. Please let us know what you think.
- Notable Workloads: Primary closers or valuable members of a closer committee who have been deemed unavailable or likely unavailable for the current day due to recent workload.
- Injury News
- Outlier Saves: Explanation for a non-closer earning a save during the previous day.
- Committee Clarity: Notes on a closer committee that clarify a pitcher’s standing in the group.

Notable Workloads
•Jordan Romano, TOR: 28 pitches on Sunday. | RosterResource
The Blue Jays might really want to have Romano available for the start of a key series against the Rangers, but if he’s down a save chance would probably go to Jordan Hicks.
•Tanner Scott, MIA: 25 pitches on Sunday. | RosterResource
Scott may well be available on Monday, but if not, Andrew Nardi, A.J. Puk, Steven Okert, or JT Chargois could close. David Robertson is probably unavailable after 31 pitches of his own Sunday.

Outlier Saves
•Julian Merryweather, CHC | RosterResource
Adbert Alzolay threw 15 pitches on Friday and 23 pitches Saturday, so he understandably wasn’t available for Sunday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks. That left Merryweather to close out a three-run lead. Things looked potentially bleak when Merryweather walked the leadoff man, but he benefited from a Mike Tauchman sliding catch before striking out the last two batters to earn his first save as a Cub. He’s been one of the best setup men in MLB this year, with a 3.18 ERA, striking out just under one-third of batters faed.
