Notable Workloads
•Clay Holmes, NYY: 23 pitches on Sunday. | RosterResource
23 pitches normally isn’t worth a write-up, but Holmes was so off his game on Sunday that he might get a day to reset. Tommy Kahnle, Wandy Peralta, Jonathan Loaísiga, and Keynan Middleton are all options to close.
•Andrés Muñoz, SEA: 16 pitches on Sunday; 18 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Matt Brash and Justin Topa should both be available Monday if Muñoz isn’t.
•Paul Sewald, ARI: 22 pitches on Sunday; 12 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Kevin Ginkel worked back-to-back games including 30 pitches on Sunday, so no way he’s available Monday. That’d leave Miguel Castro, Kyle Nelson, and Scott McGough as the top closing options if Sewald’s unavailable.

Outlier Saves
•Shintaro Fujinami, BAL | RosterResource
The Orioles were set on avoiding Félix Bautista after his brilliant 28-pitch, two-inning, four-strikeout effort on Saturday, which made Mike Baumann the first to try closing, but he blew it in the ninth by giving up a massive homer to Dominic Canzone with two outs. Cedric Mullins, who’d robbed a homer from Ty France right before Canzone’s blast, homered in the top of the tenth to give the O’s a 5-3 lead. Fujinami then came on for his first career save, throwing just six of 12 pitches for strikes but ultimately retiring all three batters faced for his first career save.
•Daniel Duarte, CIN | RosterResource
The Reds were running low on options by the time Duarte took the mound in the bottom of the tenth, as he was their seventh pitcher used during game two of the doubleheader. He didn’t have an easy task, with just a one-run lead and the zombie runner on second, but set the Pirates down 1-2-3 for the first save of his young career.

Sims should be yellow bordering on red at this point. Getting lit up like a Christmas tree lately.
