Brad Johnson: Oh, the controls finally loaded, so there are a few questions I can answer.

Noah: Glad you are back Brad! Keeper question here. Keep 4 in a H2H points league. Already have Vladito locked up for 7 years (15-9 rounds) , but need to pick from Yordan (10th round pick – choice of years), Eloy (7-?), Kimbrel (10-?), Hiura (10-?), Dahl (8-?), Robles (7-?) for the remaining 3. Thanks!

Brad Johnson: Alvarez is an easy pick

Brad Johnson: Probably Hiura, Robles, and Eloy for the last 2 slots.

Brad Johnson: Am I to understand you can cut these players at any time at no cost?

Brad Johnson: If so, you can be aggressive with the contracts. If you’re stuck with the full contract term, then I guess be more careful.

Brad Johnson: Obviously, you have plenty of time to evaluate which of the youngsters you like best.

John: Do you think Jose Leclerc gets the closers role back?    I hate to drop him, but I could use the roster spot in an AL only roto league?

Brad Johnson: It’s looking less likely than a few weeks ago, but it’s probably a situation where dropping him is premature.

Brad Johnson: The Rangers want him to get the job back, but he keeps flopping just when he’s nearing a chance.

Al Gone Quinn: Are you on the Yamamoto boat?

Brad Johnson: No, not really. I think this is a case of a pitcher who is taking advantage of a nonexistent scouting report on him. Once teams figure out he’s basically Odrisamer Despaigne, he’ll start to perform like he’s… well… Odrisamer Despaigne.

Brad Johnson: (fwiw, he’s seemingly a rich man’s Despaigne which could be a 4.50 ERA guy)

Ichy Ichy Ya Ya: Do you think Folty will be a useful SP for 12-teamers RoS?  What about in keeper/dynasty leagues?

Brad Johnson: I like him more in keeper/dynasty settings as the skill set is still promising. Right now, he’s kind of a disaster.

Balked: Would you drop LoCain for Laureano?

Brad Johnson: Same asset class. I’d look at upcoming matchups to decide. I don’t know them offhand.

JC at the Bat: 10 team NL-Only – I am lagging in saves and homeruns.  Was offered Romo and Shwarber for Jack Flaherty. Or Luke Jackson and Schwarber for Flaherty.  Do you think Romo and Jackson enough to pursue?

Brad Johnson: I think Flaherty is going to have a big second half. But Schwarbs might too.

Brad Johnson: Jackson and Romo are obviously not very enticing, but I do like that this fits your needs cleanly.

Brad Johnson: There aren’t THAT many good closers in the NL.

Brad Johnson: I suspect Romo is more likely to retain the job. Jackson has to compete with Minter and whoever the Braves acquire at the deadline.

Snoop D-O-double G: *holding a paddle and a bong* I think I may be in the wrong kind of fantasy chat. Is it 4:20 yet?

Brad Johnson: Minute late

Balked: Own all three dodgers to start in Colorado (Kershaw, Ryu, Stripling). Would you start them all?

Brad Johnson: I’d only start Ryu and even that isn’t a lock. I’d sit Stripling for sure. Probably sit Kershaw too.

Brad Johnson: Granted, there are situations where you should play/sit all of them depending on your stat accrual and roster

Fred: Thoughts on Ozuna ROS in a standard 5×5 format? Thx!!

Brad Johnson: I like him? I don’t have any strong opinions about him, he’s a generic power hitter.

Enrique: I can’t get myself to drop Archer in my super deep 15 teamer. Should I take a long look in the mirror (and drop him) or can he possibly salvage at least some of this terrible season?

(almost dropped him last week but then he had a decent start…)

Brad Johnson: You probably want to hold on in 15-team. Just hunt weak opponents with him until you see improvement.

Mmmm Mmmm Good: In non-SV/HLD leagues (i.e. ratios only), do you think David Hernandez is a top-40 RP RoS?

Brad Johnson: I don’t think so. He’s a fly ball pitcher who calls Great American Smallpark home

baseballdude: who is the better stash at 2b: hiura or luis urias?  redraft points league.

Brad Johnson: Urias for redraft

Brad Johnson: Hiura for keeper/dynasty

Brad Johnson: Urias is nearing a call up, Hiura has to play around Shaw somehow.

baseballdude: were giolito’s last 12 starts a mirage?  or just due for some predictable regression?  is he still top 15 ROS?

Brad Johnson: Top 15 is a stretch

Brad Johnson: top 25 though…

Brad Johnson: He seems to have turned a corner, lots of upgraded peripherals

baseballdude: is austin meadows a top 30 OF?  started blazing hot, got hurt, came back and hit some more, now is coming back down to earth.

Brad Johnson: Yes, I think so. At the very least, he’ll face a lot of bad right-handed pitchers

Ed: How concerned should I be about Franmil’s playing time?

Brad Johnson: I’d say pretty concerned. The Padres outfield logjam remains an issue. Wil Myers is kinda working as a CF, but Josh Naylor is clogging up the gutters. Renfroe has emerged as a clone of Reyes with better OBP.

baseballdude: i just grabbed scooter off waivers…been needing help at 2b all season in a 12 team H2H points league.  please rank these ROS: scooter, biggio, chavis, hiura (if he ever gets the call-up again!).

Brad Johnson: I really like Biggio, although I’m not expecting a ton of instant gratification.
