Brad Johnson Baseball Chat: 4/16/2019

Here is today’s chat transcript.

3:57

Brad Johnson: Alrighty, we’ll get started in a few moments

4:01

Brian the Bull: Brian Dozier: Slow April per usual, or is he still hurt?

4:01

Brad Johnson: I’m going to go with neither. His peripherals look dead and toasted

4:01

Brad Johnson: But I think he’s healthy

4:02

Dave in London: Thanks for your insight Brad. AL, 10-team 4 x 4 league. I’ve got Dylan Cease ($1), Sean Murphy($3) and Daz Cameron ($4) on my reserve. Can I reasonably expect to see them in the majors by the All-Star break, and which do you think might make the best bait?

4:02

Brad Johnson: Murphy is the likeliest to make the majors this season imo

4:02

Brad Johnson: lemme look at Cease again to remind myself of his timeline.

4:03

Brad Johnson: He might see some time too. There’s not a lot of advantage to over-managing a 23-year-old pitcher’s service time

4:04

Brad Johnson: Get him through the Super 2 deadline maybe? Might not even wait that long, although the White Sox have a history of carefully managing their assets.

4:04

Jay: Vlad gets called up 4/23 so his first game is at home right? RIGHT? (Oh god, we have to wait longer don’t we?)

4:04

Brad Johnson: I honestly don’t know. You could be on to something.

4:04

Luck Dragons: If you had to pick one, which is more likely ERA/WHIP for Kershaw — 2.10/0.88 or 3.06/1.08?

4:04

Brad Johnson: Definitely the higher

4:05

Brad Johnson: Even that’s a 70th percentile outcome

4:05

Brad Johnson: You’re shooting for a 3.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, strikeout per inning, and a high W%

4:05

Brad Johnson: Even that’s a rosy estimate

4:06

Ball is Juiced: Kluber or Corbin ROS? 5×5 Roto

4:06

Brad Johnson: As of today, I want Corbin

4:06

Brad Johnson: Well, as of all time since last August or so

4:06

Tommy La Sort of: Carlos Rodon? You a believer he could finally reach the potential? Would you trade Minter for him to find out?

4:07

Brad Johnson: I’m not a huge Rodon believer at this juncture, but I’m also not sure Minter is healthy. He’s not inducing whiffs and his velo is a little down

4:08

Brad Johnson: So I’d make the trade unless you have a lot of SP or no RP depth

4:08

Cito’s Mustache: Hey Brad, I’m looking to fill a UTIL spot in 10-team roto, standard 5 categories plus OBP. I’m last in SB but will Hamilton or Peraza be too much of a drag on rate stats to warrant a pickup? I could punt SB and just grab one of Vogelbach, Wong, J Polanco or Yandy Diaz. Any preference?

4:08

Brad Johnson: For the short term, I’d do with Polanco

4:09

Brian the Bull: Better ROS (H2H points, Ks don’t count): Brian Dozier, Belt, Zimmerman or Christian Walker?

4:09

Brad Johnson: Gimme Belt and ZIm

4:09

White Sox fan: Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada are raking. The Sox are still pretty bad, but this has to be encouraging, no?

4:10

Brad Johnson: I’d love to say yes…

4:11

Brad Johnson: I’m just not seeing much to be encouraged about in the peripherals. Anderson still has ridiculously bad discipline and bad contact outcomes

4:12

Brad Johnson: Moncada’s numbers are slightly more contradictory which is a good thing if you’re looking to be optimistic

4:12

Brad Johnson: But I’m pretty sure he’s roughly the same guy as last season. Which wasn’t a bad thing…

4:12

HappyFunBall: I’ve been offered Soto for Mondesi in a dynasty league. I believe in Soto 1000% more than Mondesi this year and in the future. But. I’m competitive this year and don’t want to take the hit in steals. If I can claim The Dentist off waivers to make up some of the shortfall, should I do it?

4:13

Brad Johnson: Unless this is a ridiculously shallow dynasty, it’s really difficult to pass up Soto.

4:13

Brad Johnson: I think you do it and figure out the consequences later.

4:14

Brad Johnson: Soto should be an asset for 12 years. Even if Mondesi improbably outperforms Soto this year, his career outlook is a fraction of Soto’s

4:14

Shenanigans: Any path to 12-team mixed league relevance for J.D. Davis? His statcast metrics are off the charts, but the Mets seem to have a ton of viable pieces.

4:14

Brad Johnson: Yea, he has to crack the daily lineup

4:14

Brad Johnson: They like him a lot

4:15

Brad Johnson: So we’re probably waiting for an injury because of their depth

4:15

Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe: Pick one of the three closers here in a weekly moves league: Pedro Strop (Morrow’s return?), Will Smith (could be traded?), Jeremy Jeffress (injury?).

4:15

Brad Johnson: Smith

4:15

Brad Johnson: Revisit if traded

4:15

Brad Johnson: I’d rather have the actually good closer

4:15

Brad Johnson: and maybe lose him later

4:16

Guest: I lost Clevinher in a 14 team league.  Instead of a crappy starter, picked up Stephenson and Buttrey.  You like the middle relief strategy?  Seems like lower end starters are all time bombs

4:16

Brad Johnson: I especially like Buttrey who I think will save upwards of 20 games

4:16

Nick: Is Aguilar back to a Qaud-A hitter? I haven’t moved him yet, but I’m not encouraged by the last half of last season and the start this year.

4:16

Brad Johnson: Sure looks like he’s been figured out

4:16

Buy Low: Solve the equation Matt Chapman + _________= Jose Ramirez

4:16

Brad Johnson: Charlie Morton?

4:17

Brad Johnson: I assume the premise is to actually buy low?

4:17

Brad Johnson: Chapman is a goodly chunk of the way there. Projects for more HR. It’s the steals where Ramirez distances himself from Chapman

4:17

Josh: What’s your interest level in Martin Perez after his velocity gains remained after his first start?  Is he a speculative add in a 12 team mixed?

4:18

Brad Johnson: 12-mixed is pretty shallow Perez. You’re hoping to use him as a streamer there

4:18

Brad Johnson: Can stash until you have a better option though

4:18

Taco Bellsbury: Drop Trevor May for Buttrey in a 12 team mixed dynasty that counts saves?

4:18

Brad Johnson: Yes

4:19

LGM: What fly do you recommend for Silver Perch?

4:19

Brad Johnson: Bryan Flynn is the closest I have to a fly.

4:19

Mario Mendoza: JDDavis or Sano?

4:20

Brad Johnson: Well, Sano is going to play daily when he’s back

4:20

Brad Johnson: but could be super rusty. The smart play is probably Sano, but you could make yourself look really smart by betting on Davis instead!

4:21

Brad Johnson: They’re probably not as far apart as their name recognition would suggest

4:21

Jay: Injuries are the worst.
That is all.

4:21

Brad Johnson: Indeed. Except for good pitchers bombing everybody’s stats everywhere.

4:21

Zion: At the end of the year Austin Meadows will have played himself into a top 3 rounds fantasy player. True or false?

4:21

Brad Johnson: I think false

4:21

Brad Johnson: Only because its sooo hard to produce that kind of value

4:22

Brad Johnson: The best outcome feels like Michael Conforto minus some HR and plus some SB

4:22

Brad Johnson: And Conforto wasn’t even always picked in the top 100 this draft season

4:22

Zion: What do you think of Kikuchi? A hold in a 13 teamer?

4:22

Brad Johnson: Probably stuck with him

4:23

Brad Johnson: Look to sell if he ever heats up enough to induce a nibble

4:23

Brad Johnson: I think he’ll be used too unusually to provide much fantasy value

4:23

Lejawn James: Would you do Muncy and Wade Davis for Nola? My replacement 3b would be waiver wire fodder but feel like this is a good deal (despite Snell, Sevy, Clev on the IL)

4:24

Brad Johnson: This is… difficult. I like the buy low idea on Nola, but there’s a chance he’s hurt as it is. And turning Muncy into a Jung Ho Kang or worse looks painful

4:25

Brad Johnson: I’d need to know more about the replacement for Muncy, your SV depth, etc.

4:25

Brian the Bull: So you have no hope for Dozier ROS? You said he’s healthy, and he’s “only” 31. The periphs are terrible, but how does one forget how to hit, if he’s healthy?

4:25

Brad Johnson: I wouldn’t say there’s no hope

4:25

Brad Johnson: But I don’t see any profit to waiting on him in shallow formats.

4:25

Matt: Tatis currently has a .348 BABIP. That’s likely high, but he has ran decently high in the minors…think that AVG is relatively sustainable as a Jose Ramirez replacement?

4:26

Brad Johnson: I think the league will adjust. But he forces things to happen with his legs. That’s why the minor league BABIP is high

4:26

Brad Johnson: That usually doesn’t transfer to the majors

4:27

Brad Johnson: One reason is the level of effort required isn’t sustainable over years of 162 game seasons

4:27

Ralph: Part with a $10 Tatis (can keep 3 years then extend) for a $42 deGrom if it really improves my chances at a title this year?

4:27

Brad Johnson: I’d ask a little more. Unless it’s like 10 or 12 team. I’m assuming a deeper format.

4:27

marxy: What’s your level of concern for slow-starting Nola? Syndergaard?

4:27

Brad Johnson: I’m a little more worried about Nola than Syndergaard

4:28

Brad Johnson: But! You can find me saying Thor is overhyped in roughly 50 articles

4:28

Brad Johnson: I think he’s pitching to his talent right now

4:28

Brad Johnson: Nola’s command is missing

4:28

Brad Johnson: and that’s an actual concern

4:29

CubFan: Who’d you rather have ROS in 12 team AL only….Jose Ramirez or Bregman? Both go back into the 2020 draft.

4:29

Brad Johnson: Personally, I prefer Ramirez

4:29

Ex Expos: Which enormous human has the better 2019 at the plate:  Franmil Reyes or Yandy Diaz?

4:29

Brad Johnson: Franmil is my bet

4:29

Brad Johnson: Though I have Yandy in a bet to outperform Jake Bauers

4:30

Brad Johnson: So I’m not out on him either.

4:30

Dave in London: Do you buy the early-season hype on Vogelbach? No one expects him to keep up this pace, but with his power and batting eye, is it likely that he emerges as a star this season?

4:30

Brad Johnson: No.

4:30

Brad Johnson: Star is FAR too strong a word.

4:30

Brad Johnson: Was Adam Lind a star?

4:31

Brad Johnson: And to be clear, I’m not really comping them in terms of skill set, but they’re probably a similar asset class.

4:31

BadAdvertising: 12 team mixed, last in saves at the moment. Am I okay with Neris, Minter, Morrow or should I make a move?

4:31

Brad Johnson: Keep working the wire

4:31

Brad Johnson: No sense lighting value on fire by trading for saves

4:31

Brad Johnson: So many come down the pipe for free

4:31

Zion: Is David Peralta underrated?

4:31

Brad Johnson: Quite possibly

4:32

Brad Johnson: His profile is weird in that I wouldn’t expect him to succeed at the rate he does.

4:32

Brad Johnson: For now, I’m shrugging and calling him an outlier

4:32

Mario Mendoza: speaking of Jake Bauers… what did I draft him for again?

4:32

Brad Johnson: I don’t know

4:32

Brad Johnson: At least a year early…

4:32

Brad Johnson: He might wake up later

4:33

migdog23: what range of SP should conforto generate in a trade… strasburg type SP?

4:33

Brad Johnson: Yes

4:33

George W: Kershaw or Taillon?

4:33

Brad Johnson: Honestly, Taillon

4:33

Brad Johnson: Pretty similar though. Taillon just happens to have better recent health

4:33

greg: Is Votto done as a 25+ HR guy?

4:34

Brad Johnson: I thought he’d bounce this year. So far, he’s the only guy hitting fly balls but NOT hitting home runs (5.6% HR/FB

4:34

Brad Johnson: On a career high 48.6% FB%

4:35

Brad Johnson: Per FanGraphs metrics, he has 0 soft hit balls

4:35

Brad Johnson: I dunno, I’m buying

4:35

Brad Johnson: Very low mind you

4:35

Freedom: Deep dynasty, couldn’t pull the trigger on sending my Juan Soto + top 10 prospect + top 25 pitcher for Jose ramirez. Did I screw this up?

4:35

Brad Johnson: Not at all

4:35

Brad Johnson: Should be Ramirez plus those things for Soto

4:35

Guest: I need K’s and I have Brad Hand as my closer, so, do you like this trade

4:36

Brad Johnson: I have a team named Brad’s Hand

4:36

Brad Johnson: It’s a pun with layers. Some of them gross.

4:36

Bill: Bryant + Kikuchi for Snell.  Which side do you like better?

4:37

Brad Johnson: Without the toe injury, Snell

4:37

Brad Johnson: Push, I’ll say

4:37

Brad Johnson: I know he’s only supposed to miss one start, but you never know

4:37

Ken: Speaking of Votto, his K rate is at 22% up from 11% in 2017. He’s about to hit 60 PA’s. Is this the new normal?

4:37

Brad Johnson: None of this is normal. He’s trying shit.

4:37

Brad Johnson: We’ll see what he learns along the way.

4:37

Ex Expos: Say I want to trade a scuffling Aguilar for a struggling pitcher (I have a surplus of bats – 5×5 12 tms). Any buy-low SPs you would target in about the Aguilar range?

4:38

Brad Johnson: You’re probably looking Yu Darvish/Nick Pivetta types

4:38

Brad Johnson: Yuck.

4:38

Brad Johnson: You’re better off working the waiver wire imo

4:38

Guest: So I need strikeouts, and I already own brad hand with Cody Allen  ,  that being said, what do you think of Mazara and Matthew Boyd for Cody Allen and Kevin Kiermaier?

4:38

Brad Johnson: You’re getting Mazara and Boyd? Go do it.

4:39

Brad Johnson: Allen ain’t keeping that job and KK is a fantasy patch

4:39

James: I’m in a FIP and wOBA/WRC+ based points league. Should I sell low on Votto or Sell high on Moncada/Carlos Santana?

4:39

Brad Johnson: I’d sell high on Moncada. I bet you can stoke a good bidding war.

4:39

Brad Johnson: Keep Votto.

4:39

DW: Why do the Rangers and Rockies hate their own prospects? Forsythe and Reynolds.. really? Give Calhoun and Hampton/Tapia some run and see what you got!

4:40

Brad Johnson: Calhoun doesn’t have a defensive position, and he’s not an especially good hitter either.

4:40

Brad Johnson: Though I do want to see him set free because he’s almost Willians shaped

4:41

Little Piranhas: Drafted Tyler White but he isn’t playing. Keep stashing him or just drop him and cut my losses. 12-team league

4:41

Brad Johnson: Cut your losses

4:41

Brad Johnson: I say with great sadness

4:41

Brad Johnson: White was one of my sleepers for this season

4:42

David: Adam Frazier playable in a 12 team H2H? I’ve rostered Cano and Dozier and you know how that’s going. Chris Taylor is also available. Worth a gamble?

4:42

Brad Johnson: Definitely, good leadoff hitter. Frazier over Taylor. Taylor is barely playing.

4:42

migdog23: Thanks Brad! Who takes down the NL EAST?

4:42

Brad Johnson: Hard for me to bet against the Phillies right now. Of all the teams in the division, they’re the only ones with depth at every position.

4:43

Brad Johnson: The other rosters have much more fragility.

4:43

RJ: I need Brad Hand and have K’s as my closer, so, do you like this trade?

4:43

Brad Johnson: Tricking me with nonsense!

4:44

Sammy the Schnoz: How much are we buying Freddy Galvis and his change in approach?

4:44

Brad Johnson: About 2%

4:44

Brad Johnson: Not even the extra 2%

4:44

Marty: What’s your take on Anthony Alford? Hot spring, yo-yoed to start the season, now looks cold in AAA and Jays did not bring him up post-Pillar. Service time not an issue, no injury; he’s no spring chicken. Is this just a matter of getting him more AAA at bats (that would mean Jays are worried he will be overmatched at MLB). Do you see any window to a near-term callup, and once he is up, what do you project?

4:44

Brad Johnson: Alford profiles as a fifth outfielder. Huge contact issues.

4:45

Pine Needles: Josh Bell or Luke Voit?

4:45

Brad Johnson: Voit

4:45

CC: Pick a 5×5 ottoneu stash – brinson or ian happ

4:45

Brad Johnson: I’d stash Happ

4:45

Weenie: Are you buying Hunter Dozier?

4:45

Brad Johnson: Yes

4:45

Pine Needles: Yandy Diaz or Hunter Dozier?

4:45

Brad Johnson: Dozier higher ceiling, Diaz higher floor

4:45

Glasnow: Can he actually breakout? Obviously not 0.35 era but…

4:45

Brad Johnson: Yes, it’s possible

4:45

Pine Needles: I’m worried about Charlie Blackmon, are you?

4:46

Brad Johnson: I mean, I’m worried he’s 32.

4:46

Brad Johnson: But he’ll hit 25ish HR with nice 5-cat numbers

4:46

Turgid: How would you rank Kikuchi, Cahill, and Merrill Kelly?

4:46

Brad Johnson: Reverse order

4:46

John: Start Pivetta tonight or keep him on the bench? Already off to a bad start with Syndergaard yesterday

4:46

Brad Johnson: BENCH

4:47

Me: Josh Bell seems to be punishing the ball. What do you think his absolute upside is?

4:47

Brad Johnson: A good Brandon Belt season?

4:47

Brad Johnson: His power is a little iffy for his park. He’d be a gem in Cincinnati

4:47

Guest: Which side do you like more? Freeman and Kikuchi for Votto and James Paxton?

4:47

Brad Johnson: EZ Freeman

4:47

Siri: Look at Franmil Reyes’ batted ball data and plate discipline.  He has the looks of a star in the making….no?

4:48

Brad Johnson: That’s in the solution set, yes

4:48

Brad Johnson: It’s not can’t miss

4:48

Brad Johnson: But there’s a reason the Padres are going to make sure he gets enough action to show up

4:48

Bring back DeSpaniel Hair: Am I nuts for thinking Alonso nearly matches Nelson Cruz in production at util slot this year?

4:49

Brad Johnson: No, I have Alonso hitting more HR than Cruz in this week’s Homer Report on Rotoworld.

4:49

Brad Johnson: (ran on Saturday)

4:49

Brad Johnson: And the Mets lineup is better than the Twins

4:49

HappyFunBall: DeShields was cut last week. %of FAAB that seems reasonable to acquire him? I sure could use the steals …

4:49

Brad Johnson: 6.5%? This is a situation I’d never win.

4:49

Brad Johnson: It’s a one category temp patch who will probably later lose his job.

4:50

Sell or Buy: Domingo Santana in dynasty?

4:50

Brad Johnson: Hold

4:50

Brad Johnson: Too late to buy

4:50

Josh: You adding Jordan Lyles in a 12 teamer?  Has he done anything to take a legitimate step forward?

4:50

Brad Johnson: He took the step forward last year, it just didn’t entirely materialize in his stat line

4:51

Brad Johnson: He’s somewhere in the band of last 5 permanently owned SP to top 15 waiver streamers

4:51

Brad Johnson: I’m worried about his velo being down 1.5 mph though

4:51

Brad Johnson: So I still consider him a streamer

4:51

Dr. Funk: 15 team roto and I’m chasing saves.   Either Bradley or Seranthony worth hanging onto or should I move on to others closer in line or in less stable situations?

4:52

Brad Johnson: Keep em unless you can spec on Jimenez or Buttrey

4:52

Brad Johnson: Maybe Diego Castillo. Maybe Nick Anderson.

4:52

Bill C: What’s your take on Alex Gordon’s newfound low-K approach? .290 type guy with 85+ runs and RBI?

4:53

Brad Johnson: My position on Alex Gordon is that I’m perfectly willing to completely miss out on him

4:53

Brad Johnson: I think he’s probably addressed the most obvious hole in his scouting report, pitchers are still pitching into it, and they’ll adjust momentarily

4:54

Brad Johnson: at which point he’ll fade

4:54

Theodore R: Do you like Joc and Yandy over Vogelbach and A Gordon?

4:54

Brad Johnson: I like Joc over all three

4:54

LGM: Any love for Hildenberger?

4:54

Brad Johnson: BLAH

4:54

Brad Johnson: no love. He’s a guy.

4:54

Brad Johnson: The Twins are using guys for saves. So he’s stashable.

4:55

Brad Johnson: Too bad about May getting short shrift, and maybe losing something over the winter (hard to tell)

4:55

Mike: Hey Brad, are you still believing G. Hampson will contribute in 2019?

4:55

Brad Johnson: Some. Right now he’s overmatched, but I think he’ll adjust if given the opportunity

4:56

Brad Johnson: The Rockies almost have to use him right now so he has a limited chance here.

4:56

Orange: What’s up with Justin Turner hitting only singles? Has age gotten the best of him?

4:56

Brad Johnson: Be patient

4:56

Tommy: So you’re saying I should drop DJ  or Josh Bell for Franmil Reyes?

4:56

Brad Johnson: If you need HR, I’d drop Deej

4:56

Brad Johnson: Otherwise, same asset class, different shapes

4:57

Aces Wild: Are you buying Frankie Montas’ start, and is Ty Buttrey the cover for Cody Allen if/when he gets dealt? Thanks!

4:57

Brad Johnson: Yes to both

4:57

Brad Johnson: Though ain’t nobody going to trade for Allen

4:57

Brad Johnson: He’s just going to lose his job then get cut

4:57

Brad Johnson: Montas added a nice splitter

4:58

Brad Johnson: but splitter guys tend to be volatile so be prepared for bumps

4:58

Kaline’s Ghost: Jansen is killing me (10 team H2H).  But even in a 10 teamer, waiver wire for C is bleak (Beef, Barnes, Hedges, Vazquez, Alfaro).   Hold?

4:58

Brad Johnson: Hold, trade, or Alfaro

4:58

Nicholas: Cheap Pete Alonso or $50+ Freeman in Ottoneu fgpts?

4:58

Brad Johnson: I think not actually

4:58

Jay: How improved would the Twins lineup be with an every day Astudillo?

4:59

Brad Johnson: The lineup would be fun! The defense might be a challenge. But he’s playing more and more!

4:59

Miles: I want to sell on Paddack – his innings limit scares me in H2H leagues with playoffs late in the season – who could I reasonably get for him?

4:59

Brad Johnson: Maybe reach for Conforto types

4:59

Brad Johnson: Jesse Winker seems like an easy target

4:59

Brad Johnson: Or if you want pitching, that’s always a high risk game. Probably somewhere in the Morton class. Maybe reach for Taillon with Paddack and a throw-in

5:00

AF: Worry about Eloy? He’s not making nearly enough contact

5:00

Brad Johnson: No, this is exactly as expected

5:00

Dong Mattingly: OBP 5×5: Roberto Osuna and Jonathan Schoop or Zack Eflin, Pedro Strop, and Jeremy Jeffress?

5:00

Brad Johnson: Osuna, easily

5:00

Johnny5Alive: Is Franchy pretty much done in San Diego?

5:00

Brad Johnson: For 2019, probably. Overall, no.

5:01

MattB: Better waiver claim if there’s no specific reason to favor hitting or pitching: Pomeranz or Hunter Dozier?

5:01

Brad Johnson: Dozier

5:01

Smokin Lowed: B Lowe or J McNeil in a points league? Shaw has been killing me at 2B and need a filler til he figures it out or I get sick of him.

5:01

Brad Johnson: Depends on your points format, but I like McNeil as a steady option

5:01

CubFan: How much FAAB should one bid on Vlad when he comes up? 12 team AL only 5×5 keeper league using OBP. We start out with 100 units to bid with.

5:01

Brad Johnson: You’re not going to get him for less than 100

5:02

Brad Johnson: Not sure if you want to though. That’s a big bet on your roster never needing an important fix. Or a trade deadline add.

5:02

Nicholas: Where should we value Pete Alonso going forward? top 5 1B?

5:02

Brad Johnson: Let’s let the season happen before we worry about that

5:03

Brad Johnson: Somewhere around Hoskins probably if you need an immediate valuation for trade purposes

5:03

Brad Johnson: Time to start wrapping up, I’ve got lineups to set!

5:03

Tommy: Drop Bell for Hunter Dozier?

5:03

Brad Johnson: No

5:03

Travioli: I know its a small sample but Mikolas is worrying me. Worth flipping him + Blake Parker for Patrick Corbin or can Miles get back to his elite self from last year?

5:03

Brad Johnson: Definitely grab Corbin

5:03

Brad Johnson: Super EZ trade

5:03

Blackbeard: Will Joc Pederson be 12 team relevant this year?

5:03

Brad Johnson: He already is

5:04

Brad Johnson: And always was

5:04

Tommy: Is David Peralta for Morton a fair deal especially if you need pitching?

5:04

Brad Johnson: More or less, I like Peralta’s overall production more, but pitching is such a desert this year

5:04

Jim Leyland Palmer: Ketel or J Polanco? 5×5 wit OPS

5:04

Brad Johnson: Tough one! I’ll take Ketel by a hair

5:04

Franklin R: Will Pederson ever get a shot at lefties? If not, can he crack 500 PA?

5:05

Brad Johnson: Not many because their roster is too deep. And by virtue of being deep, it should stay healthier.

5:05

Micah: J-Hey’s on fire! Is this legit or would you take Pinder over Heyward ROS in 6×6 roto?

5:06

Brad Johnson: I really don’t know what to do with Heyward right now. There actually are serious signs of breakout, but he’s teased us before. We are still firmly in small sample land.

5:06

Brad Johnson: For now, I’d bet on Heyward as I don’t think you’ll regret losing out on Pinder

5:06

Dwight E: Drop Vogelbach, Braun, or Alex Gordon for Joc Pederson?

5:06

Brad Johnson: Yes, any

5:06

He’s a Dahl: Rank in order – Laureano, Soler, Reyes, M Franco, Kepler

5:07

Brad Johnson: Flip Soler and Reyes

5:07

Brad Johnson: Kepler’s still on the edge of almost very good

5:08

Brad Johnson: The difference between Barely Relevant Kepler (the current model) and Monster Kepler (hypothetical upgrade model) is very slim

5:08

Al Gone Quinn: Sit Pederson vs lefty if he does get a start against one?

5:08

Brad Johnson: Depends on the lefty

5:08

Trevor: What would you be doing with Jesus Aguilar right now? Would you be sitting him until he finds his stroke again for the likes of Miguel Cabrera and Jose Martinez?

5:08

Brad Johnson: I’d be playing matchups with that crew

5:09

Brad Johnson: Target the best SP/bullpen/park

5:09

JoeyBoomBats: Seattle can’t go back to not playing Vogelbach everyday, right? At this point, they’ve gotta at least see what he can do with 450+ PAs, no?

5:09

Brad Johnson: He can’t start against LHPs, and it’s honestly hard to squeeze him into the lineup at all

5:09

Brad Johnson: He’s a true DH and they already have a better one in EE

5:09

Fled Nanders: Sell Raisel Iglesias at this point? I see more blow ups and an IR in his future. Getting a 6th rounder seem fair in a saved hungry mixed league?

5:10

Brad Johnson: Seems precipitous. I’m assuming a 6th round plays more like a 10-16th rounder?

5:10

Tim: Will Mazara break out this year?

5:10

Brad Johnson: Not projecting an increase in output

5:10

Freddy Mac: Would you trade Syndergaard for Alonso?

5:10

Brad Johnson: redraft? probably not

5:11

Brad Johnson: Depends on your needs

5:11

Brad Johnson: Keeper/dynasty, without hesitation

5:11

Brad Johnson: huge steal

5:11

Aaron: Is Laureano ever going to get out of the 8 spot?

5:11

Brad Johnson: Yes, eventually.

5:11

Brad Johnson: ok, time for a deep breath. Thanks for playing.

5:12

Zach: Bregman and Verlander or JoRam and Buehler? Which side?

5:12

Brad Johnson: Breg

5:12

Sean: 5×5 with QS and k/9 instead of W and K.  Montas or Woodruff to replace Clevinger?

5:12

Brad Johnson: Montas

My top 3 pitchers are Chris Sale, Walker Buehler, and Stephen Strasburg. When should my panic begin?
