Roto Riteup — Presented By DraftKings: April 13, 2014

On April 13, 1970 the Apollo 13 mission suffered the catastrophic failure that endangered the lives of the three astronauts aboard. For just a taste of the dramatic events unfolding, the film “Apollo 13” does an excellent job, however the documentary “Apollo 13: To the Edge and Back” is absolutely incredible.

On today’s agenda:
1. Bad news for Mat Latos?
2. Charlie Blackmon is on fire
3. Michael Bourn to return Tuesday
4. The Daily Five

Forty-nine years ago today the Houston Astrodome held its first official game. The Astros played host to the Philadelphia Phillies though the visitors spoiled the home opening by beating the Astros 2-0. The dome was technically opened on April 19, 1965, however that was merely an exhibition game.

On today’s agenda:
1. Matt Joyce’s strong start
2. The second base situation in Toronto
3. Drew Smyly to make Wednesday’s start
4. The Daily Five

Unfortunately you won’t find me at a baseball game today. Fear not, as Wrigley Field — and really Wrigleyville in general — is one of my favorite places to visit I know I’ll be back there soon.

On today’s agenda:
1. Thoughts on Marcell Ozuna
2. Avisail Garcia done for the season
3. Eric Young’s strong day
4. The Daily Five

Apparently there were some shootie-hoops games yesterday. Given my bracket had half of my elite eight teams eliminated opening weekend, I think I’ll just stick to baseball.

On today’s agenda:
1. Ryan Braun’s thumb injury
2. Thoughts on Michael Pineda
3. Taijuan Walker’s soonish return
4. The Daily Five

They say money can’t buy happiness and “The Simpsons” once spoke of “The Trouble with Trillions.” The trillion dollar bill episode aired 16 years ago today. My favorite line of “give what back?” still makes me laugh.

On today’s agenda:
1. Dee Gordon’s fast start
2. Welcome back. Matt Kemp
3. A hamstring strain for Mark Teixeira
4. Thoughts on Masahiro Tanaka’s debut
5. The Daily Five

Today is the 16th anniversary of the debut of the show “Catdog” on Nickelodeon. I remember watching this as a kid and while it was never a favorite, it did often make me wonder how Catdog was able to go the bathroom.

On today’s agenda:
1. Alejandro De Aza’s power
2. An announcement of an announcement for the New York Mets
3. Michael Bourn begins rehab assignment
4. The Daily Five

American League Tiered Outfield Rankings — April 2014

Welcome back to another year of ranking the American league outfielders! Prepare yourselves for awkwardly shoehorned pop culture references from years past and hopefully a bit of baseball analysis. To kick off the year in style, rather than “tier one, tier two” and boring things like that, I’ll present the tiers in order of my favorite fictional TV/film Presidents of the United States. If it weren’t for that fictional part, Daniel Day Lewis would run away with it for his performance in “Lincoln.”

President Josiah “Jed” Bartlet – “The West Wing

Mike Trout

You were expecting maybe, uhh, the Addams family? I don’t think I can add much on top of what has already been said, re-hashed, repeated and summarized already. Just know Trout is pretty okay at that baseball thing.
