We’ve Added a Player Rater
We’ve launched a new Player Rater feature for fantasy baseball. It is powered by the Auction Calculator with a few new exciting features to make it stand out for the casual fantasy players, as well as the deep league enthusiasts.

Some of the features that separate the Player Rater from the Auction Calculator are:
- Toggle between stats and dollar values.
- More time frames to choose from:
- First and second half
- Last 7, 14, and 30 days
- Individual weeks over the course of the current season
- Compare batters and pitchers on one table.
- Roster% and Start% from NFBC
- Player Cards

Player cards are an interactive dashboard that highlights each player’s fantasy contributions, including:
- Dollar values for different time frames.
- Season positional and overall ranks.
- Weekly graphs with dollar values, playing time, rostered%, and started%.
- Projection dollar values.
- 5×5 stats and dollar values for different time frames.
Some of you may be wondering why dollar values? Converting stats to an auction dollar value has become widely accepted within the fantasy community as a method to compare and rank players. So even if you aren’t in an auction league, the dollar values still have meaning as a means of comparison.
Also of note, the weekly dollar values in the player card graph are scaled to season long values. They are NOT cumulative to the total season dollar value.
The Player Rater settings used in the Auction Calculator are 12-Team 5×5 and 15-Team 5×5. One subjective decision made was to use 7 SP and 2 RP for pitcher positions. This is to reflect the importance of starting pitching and to mimic more real life lineups. Managers rarely start middle relievers with no save opportunities. The Auction Calculator is always available if you need to evaulate player with your own league-specific settings.
We hope you enjoy our take on the Player Rater and its player cards. As always if you encounter any issues or bugs, please contact us at support@fangraphs.com.
This is awesome, thanks!
Is there a way to customize it for those in OBP leagues? If not, I hope that is added in the future
Yes, that would be great. What would really be glorious would be to hook up the Auction Calculator’s parameter interface such that we could choose categories and whatnot.
now we’re cookin
this!
Great addition. Kind of weird that for years, there was no preset for 15 team roto leagues on the Auction Calculator (maybe Ottoneu paid for exclusivity on the presets? haha) yet it’s built in as one of two options on the Player Rater. Good choice IMO.
Love this, thanks for the work that went into this. It looks like the RoS projection stats are all displaying YTD stats.
I was wondering that too. It appears that the dollar values are based on ROS projections. However the stats showing are not projections, just year to date. But yes would be nice to have year-to-date projected stats, but you can find that on the individual player page on FG
Thanks for finding this bug. We should have resolved this issue.
This site just keeps getting better and better. Thanks so much for keeping us fantasy nerds happy!
Thanks for this! Looks great! Are there plans to add other categories? My league has OPS and QS.
I can not wait to begin using this. Why I am still typing?? ; ) Bye
When looking at a player should I add players based on RoS or current year stats? I feel like the RoS numbers lag real time value.
This is an odd step backwards from the auction calculator. Why not allow for the same level of customization of scoring and roster size?
We can add more presets, but running a league setting on the fly for up to 47 different data sets (depending on how far we are in the season) isn’t very realistic.
GREAT stuff! Please add an option to narrow to AL- or NL-only….
Most serious fantasy leagues now use OBP. It would be good option to make this thing much more useful.
Oh like the NFBC?
If you scroll up a little you will see that the same question was asked by others and yet yours is the only one that comes off sounding like a douche. Take notes.
As your favorite ex-president would say, if he spoke TexMex “besame hindero!”
Really nice feature. Love what you guys do. As a subscribing member I am always keenly interested in the State of Business of FG. Ie.Applebaum. I realize revenue generation is a key to continued improvements like this player rated feature. That is why I recommend that only members get access to Auction calculator features. I get the free articles to non-subscribers but feel having a paywall so to speak to get premium access is where you need to go. Just a thought.
This is amazing! Would love to see additional GP splits — in particular, GS splits for SPs — comparing across the last week or two is harder, given the disparities for games started.
Dang, this is super cool. Any chance that, in time, we’ll be able to adjust setting like the auction calculator?
This looks great. Crossing my fingers that y’all add it for Ottoneu!
This is pretty sick. Thank you for all the work that must have gone into this.
