The Daily Grind: The Worst Kind of Fan

My primary laptop fan is dying. And that, my friends, is the worst kind of fan. Until a new one arrives, I have to turn off my computer every 20 minutes or so. Oh joy.

1. HR Record

Alex Gordon, aka one of the worst players of 2017, set the single season home run record yesterday. Here are some moving pictures.

2. Weather Reports

All 15 games should be dry today. At least according to the weathermen. Not to be confused with the Weathermen.

3. Pitchers to Use and Abuse

Main Slate: There’s a three game early slate, but I’m going to ignore it since I need to work quickly today. The main contest is headlined by such luminaries as Chris Sale and Robbie Ray. Sale is in a bit of a slump, but he can still fire off a 40 point outing with little to no warning. I’ve noticed he usually faced about 25 batters plus/minus three. He’s opposed by a volatile Orioles offense.

Most participants will prefer to pay for Ray. The reason is clear – he’s visiting Petco Park and the Padres. Ray has five straight outings of 28 or more points, including a 33.9 point outing against the Pad Peeps.

Brad Peacock has a tantalizing pairing against the White Sox. They’re… quite bad. Alas, Peacock rarely pitches into the sixth inning. That puts a damper on his ceiling.

Luke Weaver is pitching like an ace. I suspect he’ll be sorely tested at Great American Ballpark. If he can survive this outing without taking damage, we should treat him like an ace for the remainder of the season.

Jon Lester has struggled recently, hence his $9,200 price tag. He’s visiting the Rays. Not only do they have a spacious stadium, they’re also well-below average against left-handed pitchers.

For a second straight day, we have a whole slew of alternatives to the expensive names. Josh Tomlin, Dinelson Lamet, Blake Snell, Jake Junis, Andrew Cashner, Felix Hernandez, and Steven Brault are all capable of supplying DFSable numbers. Some of them are extremely cheap. You’ll probably need to dive into this bargain pool to afford Sale or Ray.

Stack Targets: Aaron Wilkerson, Rookie Davis, Lucas Sims, Wade Miley, Ricky Nolasco, Jake Thompson, James Shields

4. SaberSim Says…

SaberSim isn’t letting me sign in today. I’m sure the top hitters are some combination of Paul Goldschmidt, Mike Trout, Joey Votto, Kris Bryant, and someone else. Perhaps Trea Turner or J.D. Martinez.

5. The Daily Grind Invitational

Congrats to nicemamut for his second win in as many weeks. Jed Lowrie carried his roster with 32 points. He was the only participant to roster Lowrie. Leaderboard.

See ya on DraftKings tonight.

Maybe you can try a secondary laptop fan… a huge fan blowing air onto your laptop.

I actually had a laptop fan that plugged into the USB port and blew air from under the laptop onto it. It’s a legit thing.
