The Daily Grind: Horribly Truncated

No, the headline is not a misnomer. Upon the resolution of an internet outage at 11:00am, it was discovered that my router also fried during last night’s storm. So here we are, late and rushed. Today’s post is mostly meant to disseminate the Invitational link.

AGENDA

  1. TDG Invitational
  2. Weather Reports
  3. Pitchers to Use and Abuse
  4. SaberSim Says…

1. The Daily Grind Invitational

I’ll update the Leaderboard tomorrow – assuming Spectrum is kind enough to give me working parts in time.

The aforementioned and promised Invitational will be on FantasyDraft. As this post is several hours late, the likelihood of a LARGE overlay is… high.

2. Weather Reports

It all looks fine to me. As always, a peek closer to game time is advisable.

3. Pitchers to Use and Abuse

Main Slate: We have a 10 game contest tonight. Aces include Corey Kluber and Gerrit Cole. Personally, I prefer Kluber to Cole even though the latter costs over $4,000 more. That’s probably because Kluber has to best Rick Porcello and the Red Sox. Porcello himself is third priciest. Kluber is a huge value. Porcello, while still playable, is not.

Zack Wheeler should be popular opposite Derek Holland. Both pitchers face bad offensive opponents at a pitcher friendly park. Also in a friendly situation is Mike Fiers. The only other pitcher I’m eager to try is Alex Wood. He’s at home versus the Cardinals.

Playable picks include Chris Archer, Kevin Gausman, Marco Estrada, Chase Anderson, and Stephen Gonsalves. Admittedly, I’ve lost track of whoever is handcuffing the Rays starter today.

Stack Targets: Homer Bailey, Lucas Giolito, Bartolo Colon, Felix Hernandez, Austin Gomber, Andrew Cashner, Jorge Lopez

I know there’s a sense that maybe Lopez will be something someday. Not today though. His command is pooey this year.

4. SaberSim Says…

Kluber, Cole, Estrada, Anderson, and Archer are the top arms per our robot overlord. I’m not so sure about those last three. Playable values include Gonsalves, Anderson, Estrada, and Archer. I’m surprised to not see Kluber listed. Among hitters, look for Mike Moustakas, Christian Yelich, Manny Machado (possibly injured), Justin Turner, and Eddie Rosario. Bargain hunters should try Brandon Lowe, Buster Posey, Evan Longoria, Devon Travis, and Chris Davis (he lives?)
