The Daily Grind: Good Story Bro

Let me tell you a story…

  5. TDG Invitational Returns!

1. Good Story Bro

In his rookie season, Trevor Story basically had two very good weeks. That’s probably the type of player he is, providing his fantasy value via ridiculous binges. He now has three homers over the last two games. It’s possible we’re seeing the third insane streak of his young career.

2. Weather Reports

The first half of the Twins doubleheader could be delayed. They’ll make it work. Pittsburgh has roughly a 50 percent chance of storms all day. It’s not looking good.

3. Pitchers to Use and Abuse

There are 11 games today. For DFS purposes, only eight count. Three are early and five are late.

Early Slate: The wee early contest is headlined by Carlos Carrasco and Jon Lester. Carrasco is visiting Minnesota coming off arguably his best outing of the season. And he only costs $9,600. He’s very likely to earn a victory opposite Kyle Gibson. Lester’s also in a good position hosting the Reds. However, Scott Feldman makes for much stiffer competition than Gibson and the Twins bullpen.

If you’re trying to play contrarian, stake a bet to Pat Corbin or Mike Fiers. They’ll face each other in Houston. They’re both lower-mid tier pitchers with solid peripherals and iffy results. Corbin has been the better of the pair.

Stack Targets: Gibson, et al

Main Slate: The five game night crew is topped by Aaron Nola’s visit to AT&T Park. There’s nothing automatic about this one – he’ll face Jeff Samardzija. This has all the makings of a low scoring affair. Shockingly, Vegas pegs the over/under at seven runs which is both the lowest line and a full run higher than I expected.

Vegas also isn’t expecting much run production in New York tonight (7.5 runs), and that’s because Luis Severino is usually a boss. I say usually because he just allowed eight runs to the Red Sox. Across the aisle, Steven Matz has been terrible this year. I’d steer clear of him. He’ll make a nice buy low target next spring for traditional leagues.

I spy Reynaldo Lopez. The hard throwing righty has a seemingly easy path to victory versus Tyson Ross. First, he has to tame a decent Rangers offense. Then, he has to count on his excessively mediocre offense to supply run production.

As long as the rain isn’t a factor, Jameson Taillon is typically a solid arm. He lives in the 30 to 40 FD point range most days.

Stack Targets: Matz, Ross, Jhoulys Chacin, Edwin Jackson

4. SaberSim Says…

Severino, Samardzija, Lester, Nola, and Carrasco are the top rated arms today. Nothing controversial there. Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, George Springer, and Paul Goldschmidt are the preferred bats. I guess the Sim doesn’t like Feldman. Values include Schwarber, Yoan Moncada, Ben Zobrist, and Jose Pirela.

Note: SaberSim has not released FanDuel rankings as of this writing. The above values are for DraftKings. Don’t try to apply them to the Invitational.

5. The Daily Grind Invitational

Congrats to travisbecker who built a deep lineup led by Charlie Morton. That’s two straight big days for Mr. Becker (he finished second on Tuesday). He’ll have a chance to take over first place when we return to DraftKings next week. Leaderboard.

And now, back to FanDuel.
