Roto Riteup: September 9, 2024

What has the Simpsons not predicted?

On the Agenda:

  1. Closer Chaos
  2. Quick Hits
  3. Various News and Notes
  4. Streaming Pitchers

Closer Chaos

Chad Green threw an inning versus the Braves on Sunday, allowing one run on two hits while blowing the save. This is Green’s third straight blown save which is concerning. The Blue Jays may not make a change, but if they do, it would likely be to Erik Swanson or Genesis Cabrera.

Quick Hits

Jeff McNeil was placed on the IL with a fractured wrist. This will end his season.

Henry Davis was placed on the IL with a hand issue. There is no timetable for his return.

Luis Castillo left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.

He is expected to undergo further testing on the injury on Monday. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Jonathan India left Sunday’s game with an elbow issue.

The Reds are calling India day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
Pavin Smith went 3-for-5 with three home runs in the victory over the Astros on Sunday.

Smith has been great in limited time this season, hitting .270/.343/.562 with seven home runs and a stolen base in 102 plate appearances. Smith is on the strong side of a platoon which usually means a fair amount of playing time, but the Diamondbacks faced four lefties last week out of their six games. They only face one lefty this week, so Smith should be in the lineup most of the week.

Jonny DeLuca went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Orioles on Sunday.

DeLuca has been great over the last three weeks, hitting .344 with three home runs and five stolen bases in 61 at bats. DeLuca isn’t an everyday player, but he has been great when he is on the field. There is a lot of speed and if can stay hot with the bat, he could be a difference maker down the stretch.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: David Festa vs LAA

Festa has been great since his recall and has a nice matchup at home.

High Risk Options: Reid Detmers at MIN, Cade Povich at BOS, Valente at PIT.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Rhett Lowder at STL

Lowder has struggled with control in his first two starts, but has been great in the minors.

High Risk Options: Albert Suarez at BOS, Bailey Falter vs MIA, Keider Montero vs COL, Adam Oller at PIT.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Castillo strained his left hamstring. As for DeLuca not being an everyday player, he’s started seven straight, nine out of 10 and 14 out of 16.
