Roto Riteup: September 9, 2012

Wiers is out riding his pink lil’ pony, so you all are stuck with me for today’s Roto Riteup. You’re also stuck with a GIF of Bryce Harper.

• With Stephen Strasburg being all kinds of shut down, Matt Harvey’s situation can now receive the tiny bit of attention it deserves. Harvey, who has struck out over 25% of the batters he’s faced, will be making two more starts before his season comes to a forced end. Harvey will be penciled into the Mets’ starting rotation going into the spring, and one would expect that the 23-year-old will not have any innings restrictions in 2013.

• Fantasy owners and Angels’ fans can unite when they’re wishing real hard for Jered Weaver to heal up and return to the rotation for the stretch run. Weaver is dealing with some bicep and shoulder problems in his throwing arm, and it has affected his performance to the tune of a 6-plus ERA over his past five starts. The Angels are a couple of games out of the playoffs, and Weaver sounds as if he’s itching to get back to the mound whether he’s fully healthy or not, so expect the tall right-hander to start at least a couple more games before the season ends.

• Another one bites the dust in Toronto, as J.A. Happ will miss the remainder of the season after discovered a fracture in his plant foot. Happ made big strides this year in Houston, and he could be a candidate for the back of the Blue Jays’ rotation in 2013. He’ll never have a whole lot of value playing in the AL East, but he could be able to rack up strikeouts and make spot starts when he’s on the road.

• Salvador Perez has a .313/.341/.512 line in the major leagues this year, all while ebing 22 years of age and playing behind the plate. Perez now has a .361 wOBA in 95 games played, and he will be a supremely interesting player when it comes to keeper valuation.

• Bryce Harper struggled in July and August, but he’s been red hot over the past week or two. So hot, in fact, that he hit a homer off of Mark Buehrle yesterday. I know you’d like to see said homer, so it’s GIFd over here.

For those of you who play daily fantasy games like FanGraphs: The Game, or just like to stream players, here are a couple matchups you may be able to exploit.

A Pitcher for Today: Patrick Corbin at SDP
Corbin should be able to deliver a quality start and bring home a W.

A Pitcher for Tomorrow: Collin McHugh vs WAS
A limited slate of games hurts your options.

A Hitter for Today: Chris Parmelee vs TEX (Roy Oswalt)
Parmelee has proven he’s too much for Triple-A, but Oswalt will be a pretty neat test for the youngster. Clearly, I think he will pass.
