Quick Hits

Corbin Burnes is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday versus the Royals. Burnes has missed the entire season recovering from Tommy John surgery. Burnes only had one two inning outing in the minors so it is unlikely that he will go deep enough in games to offer much fantasy value in 2026, but the outing will give us some insight to how he should be treated for 2027 drafts.

Various News and Notes

Moisés Ballesteros went 3-for-4 with a home run in the loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.

Ballesteros has struggled since being traded to the Angels, but they are giving him playing time and he has almost received 20 games behind the plate which will give him eligibility for next season. He is a former top 50 prospect and he is just 22-years-old. There is still plenty of time for him to reach his ceiling.

Coby May went 2-for-5 with two home runs in the victory over the Guardians on Monday.

Mayo is hitting just .224/.288/.460, but has 21 home runs in just 385 plate appearances. The power is real and he crushes lefties, but he has hit just .162 versus righties and until he figures them out, he will struggle to get regular playing time.

Nick Pivetta threw five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out two in the victory over the Nationals on Sunday.

This is Pivetta’s first start since April 12 which is impressive that he was able to be effective after missing the majority of the season. However, he got only one whiff in the outing, his velocity was down, and the stuff wasn’t overly impressive. His next two starts are at San Francisco and then home versus Miami which makes him an interesting stream down the stretch.

Pitcher for Today: Quinn Mathews at SF

The Giants have been terrible against lefties this season and this is in the best park to pitch in in baseball.

Other Options: Landen Roupp vs STL, Andrew Painter vs HOU, Cody Bradford at SEA, Brandon Young vs CLE, Patrick Sandoval vs LAA, Bryce Miller vs TEX. 

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Will Warren vs COL

Warren has been up and down this season, but getting the Rockies away from Coors in a juicy matchup worth attacking. 

Other Options: Zebby Matthews at DET, Kade Anderson vs TEX, Cal Quantrill at SEA, Andre Pallante at SF.
