  3. Various News and Notes
  4. Streaming Pitchers

Closer Chaos

Daniel Palencia left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Palencia has been great for the Cubs, but if he is going to miss extended time, Brad Keller or Andrew Kittredge could be next up in Chicago.

Quick Hits
Trea Turner left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.

He will undergo further testing on Monday. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Byron Buxton left Sunday’s game with a knee injury.

Buxton was diagnosed with a knee bruise. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Tomoyuki Sugano left Sunday’s game with foot pain.

There was no update after the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Brandon Sproat made his Major League debut on Sunday, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out seven in the loss to the Reds.

Sproat is a top 50 pitching prospect and at moments he looked the part. The stuff is not in question, but he struggles with control. He could be valuable down the stretch, especially if you are in need of strikeouts. He is scheduled to face the Rangers on Saturday which is a nice matchup.

Mitch Farris threw six innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out four in the no-decision versus the A’s on Sunday.

Farris was effective getting a 36% whiff rate on his slider and a 33% whiff rate on the changeup. The changeup is a very good pitch, but his fastball is bad and he throws it a bit too much. He had big strikeout numbers in the minors, but he also never saw AAA, so they may not show up as quickly in the Majors. He faces off in his next start against the Mariners in Seattle.

Bailey Ober threw 5.1 innings versus the Royals, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out six in the victory on Sunday.

Ober has struggled with homers this season, but he looked much better in this one. He was pitching in Kansas City though which is a great park for protecting against the long ball. He is still a risky play, but someone to watch down the stretch.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Ryan Bergert at CLE

Bergert has been great since arriving in Kansas City and has a matchup versus a struggling Cleveland offense.

Other Options: Slade Cecconi vs KC, Cade Cavalli at MIA, Bryce Elder vs CHC, Nabil Crismatt at SF, Caden Dana vs MIN.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Adrian Houser at CHW

Houser has been up and down since getting traded to the Rays, but this is a good matchup away from St. Pete.

Other Options: Dustin May at ATH, Zebby Matthews at LAA, Matthew Liberatore at SEA, Mitchell Parker at MIA, Joey Cantillo vs KC, Yoendrys Gomez vs TB, Kyle Hendricks vs MIN.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
