Various news and notes

Robinson Cano has been a beacon of hope in the second half, hitting .323/.389/.516 since the All-Star Break. His average on the year is up to .281, and he’s hit 17 homers. Cano will once again project as a top second baseman next season.

Staying in my metropolitan area, the Mariners pulled Felix Hernandez from his start yesterday with what they’re calling right elbow stiffness. It appears that Felix will make his next start, which is actually a little bit of a surprise given the team’s spot in the standings. Felix has been battling through various ailments all year, so hopefully he gets some rest this offseason and returns to his other-worldly form.

Yasiel Puig will join the Dodgers’ extended spring training program in Arizona this week as he attempts to work his way back from a hamstring injury. Puig has been a disappointment this year, even when he’s been on the field, opening up some potentially tasty arbitrage come 2016.

Masahiro Tanaka will miss his start on Wednesday due to a hamstring strain. Tanaka was scheduled to go against the Blue Jays, and it appears Ivan Nova will take his spot in the rotation until the Japanese right-hander can recover.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Eduardo Rodriguez vs TBA (Chris Archer)
It’s not the easiest path to a W, but options on this day are limited.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Logan Verrett vs ATL (Matt Wisler)
I’m playing Wisler until he proves he’s not worth it.

Thoughts on streaming Henry Owens tomorrow (and this weekend)? Everyone seems to love him but Verrett is also available. Is facing the Braves offense give Verrett that much of an upside over Owens? I’m facing Price and Arrieta twice this week in my championship and need every W, K and QS possible.
