Quick Hits

Ramon Laureano was placed on the IL. This likely ends his season.

Ozzie Albies was placed on the IL with a broken pinkie on his right hand. This could end his season which is disappointing as he just came  back from the IL. Albies had a disaster of a season and will likely be discounted coming into 2023.

Nick Solak will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a broken foot.

JT Brubaker was placed on the IL with a lat injury. He will likely miss the rest of the season.

Brendan Rodgers left Sunday’s game with hamstring tightness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Cody Morris threw six innings versus the Twins, allowing just one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out six in the loss on Sunday.

Morris wasn’t overly impressive in the start, getting just six whiffs on his fastball and cutter, but he was very effective and didn’t make many mistakes. He is no future ace, but he can be an effective streamer down the stretch and likely will compete for a rotation spot in 2023.

Oswaldo Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Brewers on Sunday.

Cabrera had started slow since making his debut, hitting .228/.288/.356 with two home runs and a stolen base in 111 plate appearances. However, since 9/10, he is hitting .346 and both homers and the stolen base have come in that stretch. He needs to stay hot to keep his role, but any piece of this Yankees lineup is worth streaming.

Luis Rengifo went 2-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Mariners on Sunday.

Rengifo not only went yard twice, he did it from both sides of the plate. He has quietly put together a really nice season, hitting .275/.307/.455 with 15 home runs and six stolen bases. While he profiles as a super utility guy, on the depleted Angels he will continue to play regularly and should have a decent size role coming into next year.

Luis Cessa threw five scoreless innings versus the Cardinals, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out one.

This was a surprising outing considering how much he struggled in his previous start versus the Pirates. Cessa struggles with command, but he did a god job of placement in the zone here. His next two starts are home versus Milwaukee and at the Cubs, which makes him a risky but not out of the question streamer down the stretch.

Pitcher for Today:  Wade Miley at MIA

Miley has had a nice return from the IL and gets the Marlins in Miami.

High Risk Options: Jose Suarez vs SEA.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Austin Voth vs DET

This is a bit risky if you are win seeking, but Voth has pitched really well in Baltimore and this is about as good of a matchup as you can get.

High Risk Options: Brayan Bello at CIN, Zack Greinke vs MIN, Aaron Civale at CHW, Adrian Sampson at MIA, Michael Grove vs ARI.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
