Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested. Will add a link once available.

Closer Chaos

Dylan Floro threw an inning on Thursday, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one to register his fifth save of the season. Floro appears to have become the closer in Miami or at worst a big part of the equation after getting both of the saves for the Marlins in the last week. If you are desperate for saves, Miami has a pretty nice schedule with two series against the Nationals with a home Cubs series in between.

Quick Hits

Justin Dunn was placed on the IL with a shoulder issue. This likely ends his season.

JT Brubaker left Thursday’s game with a lat issue. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Brandon Marsh went 4-for-4 with a double and a triple in the loss to the Marlins on Thursday.

Marsh has struggled mightily this year, hitting .242/.291/.379 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 405 plate appearances. However, since returning from the IL, he is hitting .333 with two home runs and a stolen base while playing amazing defense for a team that desperately needs outfield defense in Philly. Marsh is a high risk/high reward pick up down the stretch and a potential sleeper for next year.

Drey Jameson threw seven scoreless innings versus the Padres, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out seven.

In spite of a pretty dominating stat line, the outing wasn’t overly impressive. He registered a total of eight whiffs in the outing (two off his fastball and none off his sinker) and while his scouting report says he can hit 100 mph, he was sitting mostly 94-96 in the outing. It was his first Major League start and he went seven against a tough Padres lineup, so there is some promise, I just don’t know that I am rushing to the wire to grab him just yet unless he is really cheap as I don’t think I am super comfortable starting him next against the Dodgers.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today:  Mitch Keller at NYM

It is risky anytime you face the Mets offense, but Keller has quietly been very good down the stretch.

High Risk Options: Matt Manning vs CHW, German Marquez at CHC, Austin Voth at TOR, Michael Loernzen vs SEA,

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Wade Miley vs COL

Miley has had a nice return from the IL and gets the Rockies at home.

High Risk Options: Eduardo Rodriguez vs CHW, Jon Gray at TB, Rich Hill vs KC.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
