Closer Chaos
Kenley Jansen left Tuesday’s outing with fatigue and an undisclosed illness. Consider him day-to-day for now. If he were to miss time, Chris Martin and John Schreiber woul be in line for saves.
Quick Hits
Brandon Belt was placed on the IL with a back issue. There is no timetable for his return.
Jeimer Candelario was placed on the IL with a back strain. There is not timetable for his return.
Nolan Gorman left Tuesday’s game with hamstring tightness. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Willson Contreras left Tuesday’s game with a hand contusion. This doesn’t sound overly serious, so consider him day-to-day for now.
Max Scherzer left his start on Tuesday with a tricep issue. He is expected to undergo further testing. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Mark Canha left Tuesday’s game with wrist soreness. He is expected to see a doctor but he stated he hoped to return quickly. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Yandy Diaz left Tuesday’s game after sustaining an injury to his groin:

Consider him day-to-day at this time.
Various News and Notes
Richie Palacios went 2-for-3 with two home runs in the victory over the Orioles on Tuesday.
https://x.com/Cardinals/status/1701755631927972264?s=20
Palacios isn’t supposed to have much power in the bat but he showed off some in this outing. He is not much more than a reserve outfielder in the Majors, but he might have some NL Only value down the stretch.
Josh Donaldson went 2-for-2 with a home run in the victory over the Marlins on Tuesday.
https://x.com/TalkinBaseball_/status/1701758463632617958?s=20
Donaldson also walked twice in the game. He was released by the Yankees earlier in the season and it was thought by many (including me) that it was the end of his career, but he has found a new home in Milwaukee. With the Brewers lack of offense, he could find himself playing a lot down the stretch.
Everson Pereira went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases in the victory over the Red Sox in the second game of their double header on Tuesday.
https://x.com/EyesOnYanks/status/1701785901649494522?s=20
Pereira has struggled in his first go around, hitting just .152 with no home runs and four stolen bases. However, he has hit the ball hard and there is plenty of speed in the profile. If he can improve the contact rate, then he could be a valuable fantasy asset long term.
Shea Langeliers went 1-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Astros on Tuesday.
https://x.com/KarlBuscheck/status/1701753405721694290?s=20
Langeliers has been the prototypical power only catcher hitting for power and not much else. However, he has a decent hit tool and should improve in the batting average department as he matures as a hitter. He will likely be an underdrafted catcher next season because of his average and poor team context, but he provides a fair amount of power at a position that can lack it.

Pitcher for Today: None
Some good high risk options, but none that I am really confident in.
High Risk Options: Griffin Canning at SEA, Jameson Taillon at COL, Christopher Sanchez vs ATL, Paul Blackburn at HOU.
Pitcher for Tomorrow: Michael King at BOS
King has been fantastic since joining the rotation so I am rolling with him until he gets knocked around.
High Risk Options: Reese Olson vs CIN.
