Quick Hits

Dustin May was placed on the IL with an elbow injury. This will likely end his season.

Bo Bichette was placed on the IL with a knee injury. The move is retroactive to September 7th. There is no timetable for his return.

Kyle Tucker was placed on the IL with a calf strain. The move is retroactive to September 6th. The hope is he will be back in about a week.

Michael Wacha was placed on the 7-Day Concussion IL. There is no timetable for his return.

Warming Bernabel was placed on the 7-Day Concussion IL. There is no timetable for his return.

Luis Garcia left Tuesday’s game with an elbow issue.

His velocity was down in the outing and it sounds bad. This could end his season. He is droppable in all formats.

Jeremiah Jackson left Tuesday’s game after being hit with a pitch.

He is expected to be fine. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
Michael Helman went 1-for-2 with a home run in the victory over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Helman has been pretty good for the Rangers, hitting .255/.333/.627 with five home runs and three stolen bases in just 58 plate appearances. He is playing regularly and should be picked up in most formats.

Sal Stewart went 1-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Padres on Tuesday.

Stewart is a prospect of note that profiles as more of an accumulator than he does anything else. He is playing more, but not full time as of right now. He is someone to watch, but mostly in deeper leagues for right now.

Parker Meadows went 3-for-5 with a home run in the victory over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Meadows just returned from the IL a few days ago, but already has two home runs in three days. The talent has not really been in question for the former top prospect, but he has struggled with health and consistency in his three MLB seasons. If he stays hot, he could work his way up the lineup, but right now he is on the strong side of a platoon and at the bottom of the order.

Joey Cantillo threw eight scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out five in the victory over the Royals on Tuesday.

Cantillo didn’t allow a walk for the first time in the second half of the season. Cantillo has great stuff, but typically struggles with control, but if he can continue to attack the zone, he could take a big step heading into next year.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Tyler Wells vs PIT

Wells looked good in his first start and faces a bad Pittsburgh offense.

Other Options: Payton Tolle at ATH, Eduardo Rodriguez at SF, Taj Bradley at LAA, Michael McGreevy at SEA, Jason Alexander at TOR,

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Shane Smith vs TB

Smith has pitched better as of late and gets a good matchup at home.

Other Options: Cristian Javier at TOR, Ian Seymour at CHW, Ryan Weathers vs WAS, Johan Oviedo at BAL, Cade Povich vs PIT, Stephen Kolek at CLE

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
