Roto Riteup — Presented by DraftKings: September 15, 2014
Today’s Roto Riteup could possibly be fueled by an incredible amount of sadness after a disheartening Seahawks loss.
On today’s agenda:
1. T.J. House moved back, owners rejoice
2. Xander Bogaerts is on fire
3. Ben Revere runs, but lacks value
4. The Finalists Five
T.J. House moved back, owners rejoice
House was originally supposed to start Wednesday against the Houston Astros, but the Indians have decided he will be pushed back to face off against the Minnesota Twins. Both games will be on the road, and just looking at the respective ballparks, the advantage of playing in Minny is obvious. After adjusting for park factors, the Astros have the third best offense against left-handers, while the Twins come in well below at 21. Dr. House has been brilliant recently, giving up only two earned in his past 21 innings, striking out 20 guys with no walks nor homers. House could be considered a crafty left-hander, but his fastball actually sits around 90 MPH. He’s an easy start this week, and you should be picking him up if he’s on the waiver wire.
Xander Bogaerts is on fire
The Red Sox shortstop went 3-for-4 with a ding-dong against the Royals yesterday, continuing his hot streak. Bogaerts is now batting .368 in September with four homers, striking out about 10% less often than he had the rest of the season. If Bogaerts can keep his strikeout rate at around 14-16%, it will go a long way to getting his batting average into respectability. Booger will be heading into his age-22 season in 2015, and a strong minor league track record and strong finish to 2014 will have me targeting him late in drafts this offseason.
Ben Revere runs, but lacks value
Revere stole his 44th and 45th bags yesterday against the Marlins, and his batting average now sits at .309 on the year. Those numbers look pretty darn sweet, but is the overall package actually valuable? Revere has now scored 68 runs on the year, but his 23 RBI and two dingers put a damper on his production. It’s hard to essentially punt two categories in search of steals, but on the right team, he can be worth it. Stay tuned after the season’s over to see if Revere turns out to be better than a replacement-level player.

what on Earth made you pick Alfredo Simon today?! He hasn’t been very good lately and has a bad history against the Cubs to boot… I mean, congrats for picking him as he did well, I’m just wondering what led you to that? Shoemaker and JD were also good calls, though fairly obvious ones so I get why you picked them… also curious why you picked flops Singleton and Ethier? I’m guessing just because they were going against bad starters…?
