Kyle Parker gets the call
Colorado has called up Parker, bringing the former Clemson quarterback to the majors four years after selecting him in the first round. Parker, a right-handed outfielder, smacked Double-A pitchers around a bit last year, and he’s continued that practice in Triple-A this year. Parker will see time around the outfield with Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer on the mend, and he could even get a few games at first when Justin Morneau needs a day off. Parker has some good raw power in his bat, and his strikeout rates in the minors weren’t bad, so it’s entirely possible he won’t kill an owner’s average with his ABs. Parker won’t be in line for a full-time job unless another injury occurs, but his chance to make an impression is now.

Matt Wieters meets Tommy John
On the shelf for over a month now, Wieters has finally concluded that surgery is needed to make his elbow sexy again. Wieters will likely miss the traditional 12 months after the surgery, though position players can often come back earlier. Wieters was finally having the season that the oracles foretold, hitting .308/.339/.500 before launching his way onto the DL. Wieters will be in his age-29 season next year, so he could end up being a nice value for smart owners in 2015.

A Bronson Arroyo Milestone
After pitching over 2364 career innings across 405 games, Arroyo has finally done something new; the right-hander is now on the Disabled List for the very first time, sitting out due to some issues with his throwing elbow. Arroyo is currently being diagnosed with tendinitis, but the team is still waiting for his MRI results and is projecting him to miss about a month or so. Even at 37 years old, Arroyo has continued to be a reasonable contributor to his team’s rotation this year.

The Fixed Five

SP: Tanner Roark | $8,200 | vHOU
SP: Josh Tomlin | $6,800 | vLAA
1B: Joey Votto | $4,400 | @PIT (Brandon Cumpton)
3B: Aramis Ramirez | $4,400 | @ARZ (Wade Miley)
OF: Khris Davis | $4,000 | @ARZ (Wade Miley)

I’m not super comfortable with those starters, and there are a couple top guys you could go with today if you’re fine with getting bargains elsewhere.

Any thoughts on Andrew Heaney?
Is he a must own in standard leagues or just deeper leagues for right now?

I think so in both standard and deep. His numbers in both AA and AAA have been ridiculous (27/2 K/BB in AAA). He hasn’t been available in any of my leagues all season.
