Matt Harvey throws a ball
While I, too, threw a ball yesterday, Harvey doing so is much bigger news — I don’t know why you guys don’t care about me, but whatever. Harvey threw his threaded white ball from the mound yesterday for the first time since he underwent Tommy John in October, preparing the way for more intense work before heading over to the Instructional League in Florida. Harvey may want to pitch in the majors this season, but there’s no way the Mets are going to indulge that wish, opting instead to make sure he’s 112% ready to go for Spring Training.

While some guys don’t always fare well after Tommy John, velocity isn’t the issue, and Harvey has plenty of it to work with even if his command isn’t sharp. Harvey probably won’t be one of the first twelve pitchers off the board next year, but there’s a chance he could put up numbers worthy of one of those spots.

Brett Lawrie rehabbing
Lawrie began rehabbing from his finger injury last night, and he’ll be stuck on assignment for about a week before rejoining the big league club. Lawrie has been out for other a month with a fractured finger on his throwing hand, and even though he flashed some power before getting injured, his low batting average has been unwelcome.

Looking to replace Eric Hosmer as a Util bat, any preference between Oscar Tavares, Gregory Polanco or Khris Davis? Thanks in advance for your feedback

Definitely not Davis, he’s going to lose some playing time to Parra. I’d lean towards Polanco.
