Roto Riteup — Presented by DraftKings: August 14, 2015

Thursday is the best day at the Roto Riteup, and this go-around is even better thanks to a massive helping of arbitrary endpoints.

On today’s agenda:
1. Byron Buxton injured in first Double-A game
2. Yu Darvish to the DL
3. Kyle Lohse hurts an ankle
4. Fun with Arbitrary Endpoints
5. The Furibund Five

Byron Buxton injured in first Double-A game
The Twins promoted Buxton to New Britain earlier this week, but his debut was marred by a collision with a fellow outfielder while chasing down a ball. Buxton was taken off the field on a stretcher and was placed in an ambulance while the other outfielder walked off under his own power, and the Twins top prospect was diagnosed with a concussion. Buxton has now only managed 30 games this year due to various injuries, and while we can hope for the best, it would stand to reason that he may not play in another contest this season. Buxton was thought to be competing for the 2015 Opening Day CF gig coming into the 2014 campaign, but those hopes seem all but dashed now.

Yu Darvish to the DL
The Texas Rangers have placed Darvish on the DL with inflammation in his right elbow, though they are hoping his injury is no more serious than that. Darvish will have more tests done in the next day or two, but the Rangers believe that he’ll only miss two scheduled starts. Darvish heads to the DL with a career best 2.84 FIP in over 144 innings of work.

Robbie Ross is slated to take Darvish’s spot in the Rangers’ rotation. The 25-year-old left-hander has struggled as both a reliever and a starter this season, but he can get grounders with a good low-90s sinker. With a disappointing team behind him, it’s hard to see Ross being worthy of streaming.

Kyle Lohse hurts an ankle
Lohse was pulled in the middle of yesterday’s start against the Cubs with an apparent right ankle injury. Lohse hurt himself while hitting, and after the Brewers decided to let him go back out to the mound in the bottom half of the inning, promptly gave up homers to the first two batters he faced. Lohse was a revelation at the start of the season, and while he’s cooled off since, he’s in the middle of a fourth straight season with an ERA below 3.50 and a WHIP below 1.20.

The Furibund Five

SP: Jake Odorizzi | $8,300 | @TEX
SP: Dillon Gee | $7,500 | vWAS
1B: David Ortiz | $4,400 | vHOU (Scott Feldman)
OF: Khris Davis | $3,900 | @CHC (Edwin Jackson)
OF: Dexter Fowler | $3,900 | @BOS (Allen Webster)

A duel between Feldman and Webster could turn ugly, and taking Ortiz and Fowler is a bet on it.
