Yordano Ventura makes me feel funny
Ventura was finally permitted to make his 2014 debut, and he performed ever so nicely against the Rays. His fastball was fast, his changeup was tricky, and his curveball had its moments on the way to six shutout innings and six strikeouts. Ventura is a must-watch each time he takes the mound, and every fantasy owner is going to wish they had him when the year is done. Felix Doubront struggles
After getting hit around a little bit in his first start, Doubront couldn’t even get through the third inning against the Rangers. Doubront walked three of the 17 batters he faced as well as giving up a homer yesterday, though his velocity was back up from last week’s start. Doubront has been solid but not special over the past few seasons, and his WHIP makes him not-so-useful in fantasy leagues. If any of the Red Sox many advanced pitching prospects gets off to a hot start, we could see Doubront feel the pain of the butcher’s blade as the odd man out in the rotation.

Who are you, and what have you done with Aaron Harang
Harang took a no-hitter into the seventh his first time out, and yesterday he struck out nine in six innings of work. While he hasn’t faced any of the league’s more credible lineups, Harang’s velocity has started up a tick, and he was able to get some strikeouts in four NL starts last year. No, he’s not having a resurgence, but maybe he’s not washed up after all.

Wandy’s in Chicago, a generally pitching friendly park with a pitching friendly offense.

Miguel Gonzales in Yankee Stadium sounds like bad times for the Orioles, so I’m betting on a few reasonably priced Yanks.
