Roto Riteup: May 9, 2016
The Roto Riteup advocates for the day after Mother’s Day to be a national holiday, as millions of children around the world are nursing hangovers after being forced to spend time with family. Not this gentleman, of course, because my mother is a delight and this is published in a public forum.
On the agenda:
1. Fun with arbitrary endpoints
2. Various News and Notes
3. Streaming Pitcher Options

Various News and Notes
Mike Foltynewicz threw perhaps his best major league start yesterday, striking out eight over seven innings of work. Folty did allow a homer, however, so not all was perfect in the deep south. Folty is still just 24 years old, but this author does not believe he can be a serviceable big league starter, but has the potential to be a quality reliever.
Archie Bradley is being called up for the daunting task of starting in Coors Field today and will face off against Tyler Chatwood. Bradley has been pretty great in his five starts in the minors, striking out 34 batters while not allowing a homer. His major league results are uninspiring at best, but most of the stuff that made him one of the better prospects in baseball still remains.
Justin Nicolino is who we thought he was, and that’s why he should take the damn field. After a quality start yesterday, the left-hander has struck out three batters in over 19 innings. While his command may lead to weaker contact, it’s nearly impossible for a major league team to run a starter out every five days who is practically physically incapable of striking hitters out.
After a pair of big flies yesterday, Manny Machado has nine homers and a .350 batting average on the year. While it’s hard to see Machado matching the 20 steals he posted last year — or maybe even half that — the rest of his offensive profile is an upgrade over last year.
Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.
A pitcher for today: Aaron Sanchez at SFG (Jake Peavy)
There’s not really a suitable streamer, so let’s focus on the value Sanchez should provide compared to the cost.
A pitcher for tomorrow: Kevin Gausman at MIN (Phil Hughes)
If your league still hasn’t scooped up Gausman, now is your time to do so.

Anyone know if Dallas Keuchel’s velocity came back yesterday in his start against Seattle? I have him on the bench after the last few starts, and I don’t want to start using him until it looks like he has regained form.
McHugh started yesterday if that’s who you mean. Pitchf/x had him averaging 91.1 and topping out at 92.8.
Keuchel averaged 89.2/topped out at 91.2 on Saturday.
