Roto Riteup: May 8, 2016

Today’s Roto Riteup wishes good things for all the mothers out there.

On the agenda:
1. The Struggles of David Price
2. Various News and Notes
3. Streaming Pitcher Options

The Struggles of David Price
The Red Sox left-hander wasn’t able to make it through the fifth innings yesterday against the Yankees, allowing six earned and walking three. Price has now allowed 31 runs in less than 42 innings of work, good for an ERA close to 7.00. While his ERA is poor, Price has struck out batters at a career best pace and he hasn’t walked too many, but his BABIP is a beautiful .373 now. While likely a fluke, it is important to note that Price’s velocity is down a couple ticks compared to years’ past, so his misses could be squared up a tad easier. Price is absolutely a buy-low candidate if his owner is willing to sell, but remember to drop in velocity and factor in the added risk.

Various News and Notes
Byung-ho Park will likely sit out today’s game after being hit in the knee by a Chris Sale pitch yesterday, so adjust your lineups accordingly.

Robinson Cano is up to 11 homers this season while hitting over .300. While there’s very little chance he keeps up this pace and hits 40 bombs, the 30 mark seems entirely reachable now, something we wouldn’t have said before the season. While roto owners will continue to enjoy his services all year long, head-to-head owners may feel the pain a bit when he’s no longer carrying them week-to-week.

Tyler Glasnow turned in another excellent outing in Triple-A yesterday, striking out 11 while walking just one in seven innings of work. Glasnow has struck out over a third of the batters he’s faced this year, but still struggles with command at times. He’ll likely have another three weeks to work on said command before the Super Two deadline passes.

Staying in the minors, J.P. Crawford continues to be an on-base machine, walking twice last night and currently sporting an OBP of .411. Crawford now has over 500 plate appearances in Double-A under his belt, so expect a promotion to the next level at any time now.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Josh Tomlin vs KC (Edinson Volquez)
There’s not a bevy of options on Sunday, but Tomlin should do.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Tyler Wilson at MIN (Jose Berrios)
Take the not-so-frequent opportunity to play a solid Orioles’ starter outside of Camden, Fenway, Toronto, or Yankee stadium.

The only place Tyler Wilson is a solid option is for Norfolk. 3.92 K/9 career MLB K/9 in 59.2 IP. Yikes.
