Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.

Quick Hits

Nathan Eovaldi left Thursday’s start versus the Nationals due to groin tightness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes

Christian Scott is expected to be called up and make his Major League debut for the Mets against the Rays on Saturday.

Scott is one of the top pitching prospects in the Mets system, throwing 25.1 innings with a 3.20 ERA and a 38% strikeout rate in AAA this season. He has a plus fastball/slider combination and a usable third pitch in his arsenal. He will be a top FAAB pickup this weekend.

Kyle Bradish threw 4.2 innings on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five in the no-decision versus the Yankees.

Bradish missed the first month of the season due to a sprain in his elbow. Bradish looked great in the outing, getting a 43% CSW on his sinker and hitting 102 with the fastball. There is a ton of risk to Bradisn because these injuries often lead to Tommy John surgery, but if he is available in your league, you should pick him up even if it only lasts a little while.

Jon Singleton went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Guardians on Thursday.

Singleton has taken over regular duties at first base following the demotion of Jose Abreu to the minor leagues. Singleton has always had power, but he flopped when he was a top prospect. However, he is hitting .275/.356/.431 with two home runs. He has a 90% zone contact rate and his max exit velocity is in the top 4% in the league. He could be an interesting pickup off of the wire in deeper leagues.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: JP Sears vs MIA

Sears got blown up versus the Orioles, but had been pitching well before that and the Marlins are definitely not the Orioles.

High Risk Options: Jose Quintana vs COL, Michael Lorenzen at KC, Ryan Weathers at OAK, Cole Irvin at CIN, Jose Soriano atCLE, Hayden Wesneski at CHC, Cal Quantrill at PIT.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Trevor Rogers at OAK

Rogers has been up and down this season, but this is a great matchup in a great park.

High Risk Options: Bryce Elder at LAD, John Means at CIN, Jake Irvin vs TOR, Austin Gomber at PIT

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Kyle Braddish’s hardest pitch yesterday was 97 mph according to Statcast, and even that seems high. No chance he hit 102.

I think he might have been looking at EV by mistake – his max EV off a slider was 101.9
